Chiga looked at Minato's tear-streaked face. Instead of comforting him, she asked curiously.

"Senior Minato, I'm very curious how Teacher Kushina agreed to let you put the Flying Thunder God Seal—"

Before Chiga could finish, Minato covered her mouth. "All right, Chiga, let's not talk about this anymore. It involves the core secrets of the Flying Thunder God Technique."

What could he say? That he had engraved it in a moment of impulsiveness when he lost control of himself?

Kushina had been angry at him for a long time because of that.

If Kushina found out he had accidentally revealed this secret, he would truly be finished.

Chiga looked at Minato disdainfully.

With that, he headed toward the Hokage Building on his own.

If he had not needed to bring Chiga to report to the Third Hokage, Minato would have wanted to use the Body Flicker Technique and leave by himself.

"Minato, is that you? Picking up another mission? You really work yourself to the bone!"

"Not at all. I just want to save up a little more money."

"Minato, let's have a drink together when you get back from your mission. I heard a new batch of girls arrived at the Konoha Kabuki District. Hehehe."

"Ah, I'm not much of a drinker, so I can't accompany you. My apologies!"

His warm, spring-breeze smile and gentle tone made every ninja who interacted with him feel favorably toward him.

Only Chiga, following behind him, muttered quietly under her breath.

"Sanctimonious hypocrite. Polished scum."

"Third Hokage, Minato Squad has come to receive a mission," Minato respectfully responded to Hiruzen Sarutobi.

Hiruzen Sarutobi nodded in satisfaction.

As his only grand-disciple at present, Hiruzen Sarutobi found Minato Namikaze more pleasing the more he looked at him.

"Mm, not bad. Minato, you're much more sensible than Jiraiya. That fellow ran off to the Land of Hot Water again to gather material for his novel. He still hasn't come back to help this teacher of his shoulder some of the burden."

At the mention of Jiraiya, Hiruzen Sarutobi wore an expression of disappointment, though he sighed inwardly.

He claimed he was gathering material for his novel, but how could Hiruzen Sarutobi not know his own disciple's temperament? He had clearly gone to peep on people.

Yet that was not why Hiruzen Sarutobi sighed.

The real reason was that his disappointing disciple had only learned the barest surface of the art of peeping even now.

He was still studying Pinhole Imaging and the Bush Crouching Technique. What a complete waste of time.

How could those two techniques compare to the lofty and sophisticated Telescope Technique?

He was beyond teaching!

Thinking of this, Hiruzen Sarutobi earnestly said to Minato, "Minato, your teacher is already hopeless. You must not learn his lack of self-respect, or this old man will have to stand up for Kushina!"

Though Hiruzen Sarutobi said that, he also felt regretful inside. Minato was such an outstanding prospect, yet Jiraiya had not passed down the secret techniques of their lineage to him.

With that thought, Hiruzen Sarutobi could only turn his gaze toward Kakashi Hatake.

Only then did he notice that besides Minato and Kakashi, Chiga had come as well.

What puzzled him, however, was that Kakashi and Chiga were both staring at Minato with strange looks, while Minato's forehead was covered in sweat beneath their gazes.

What was going on?

Had he said something wrong?

Minato said, "It's like this. Since Kushina is still in confinement and Chiga has no team, I would like to temporarily assign Chiga to my squad and form a three-person team. Would that be acceptable?"

"Chiga."

Hiruzen Sarutobi nodded and gave Chiga a kindly smile before saying, "No problem. I approve. During Kushina's confinement, you can lead Chiga."

"By the way, Minato, what rank of mission do you want to take this time?"

Hiruzen Sarutobi asked Minato again.

Seeing that Hiruzen Sarutobi had finally returned to the main topic, Minato sighed in relief. "I will follow the Third Hokage's arrangements."

"Good. Then I'll choose a suitable mission for you."

Hiruzen Sarutobi nodded in satisfaction. He liked team-leading Jonin like Minato, who did not pick and choose missions.

He pulled more than a dozen mission files from the documents on his desk and began selecting one suitable for Minato Squad.

"Mm, considering that your team only has three people, and Chiga only graduated not long ago, let's go with this Rank B Mission!"

As he spoke, Hiruzen Sarutobi returned the other missions to their original places, leaving only one mission scroll in his hand before handing it to Minato.

Minato stepped forward, accepted the mission scroll, and understood what kind of mission it was after taking a brief look.

The mission was not complicated. They simply needed to go to a Konoha outpost in the Land of Rivers and retrieve intelligence concerning the Land of Wind.

"Third Hokage, then please leave this mission to Minato Squad."

After roughly understanding the mission requirements, Minato spoke to Hiruzen Sarutobi.

"Mm, go on. The schedule for this mission is fairly generous, so you can rest well at home tonight and set out tomorrow morning."

After seeing Minato accept the mission, Hiruzen Sarutobi waved a hand and dismissed them.
