History
The Divine Land was founded by the figure titled the Heavenly Emperor. Its founding rejected the outside world’s model of survival through exploitation and established a society intended to protect ordinary people from demons and unchecked martial power. 133 211
When the Divine Land was established, existing fiefdoms such as the Ren Family’s Lake Dragon Palace were preserved despite their origins in the late Qing era. 94
Thirty years before the current events, the Divine Land conducted a major crackdown against sects and noble families. The campaign made the country safer on the surface, but severely weakened the Pest Control organization and could not completely remove entrenched forces living within Primordial Beginnings. 182
In the present era, the Divine Land has shifted from containment to active integration or elimination of sects and noble families whose Primordial Beginnings threaten its national strategy. 207 208 211
Government and Institutions
| Institution / Group | Function |
|---|---|
| Central Hub | The national political center; its elders make major strategic decisions, including support for Li Ye and the national Ascension plan. 196 202 |
| Provincial Departments | Administer regional matters and can grant fiefdoms as rewards for merit. 94 |
| Pest Control Bureau | Handles Demon Realms, Primordial Beginnings, demon eradication, and the incorporation of surrendered sects. 202 208 |
| Military | Supports large-scale containment, seals affected areas, and fields martial artists for operations against major threats. 196 200 |
| Central Hub Elders | Senior decision-makers who prioritize martial understanding and a broad perspective over personal cultivation realm. 202 |
Society and Ideology
The Divine Land does not regard martial cultivation as the sole measure of a person’s worth. Even a low-realm official may hold major authority if they possess sufficient understanding and judgment. 202
Its governing philosophy restrains powerful individuals from acting without limits while providing ordinary people relative safety. This has made it a refuge for the weak in contrast to overseas societies, where the weak are treated as resources or potential prey. 211
The Divine Land’s long-term policy favors incorporation over indiscriminate destruction. Surrendered sects may leave their Primordial Beginnings, receive fiefdoms, and be integrated into institutions such as top martial arts universities. 211
- It suppresses sects and noble families that attempt to establish independent power through Primordial Beginnings. 212
- It recognizes cooperative factions that obey national rules and contribute to demon suppression, even when they retain certain interests of their own. 207
- Neutral factions seek equality with the Divine Land while remaining outside its rules; their stance can change between cooperation and hostility. 207
- It does not permit the hereditary noble model in which those born divine are controlled, exploited, or treated as research material. 221
Demon Realm and Primordial Beginning Policy
The Divine Land protects most civilians so effectively that major demons are widely known but rarely personally encountered, while lesser demons are generally eliminated soon after appearing. 2
The Heavenly Emperor characterized demons and Demon Realms as “a form of resistance.” 133
| Policy | Implementation |
|---|---|
| Rapid eradication in the capital | Any Primordial Beginning appearing in the Capital City is immediately eradicated; no sects are permitted there. 207 |
| Suppression of Primordial Beginnings | Sect-controlled Primordial Beginnings must remain suppressed and subject to investigation after their holders enter the human world. 212 |
| Prevention of expansion | Uncontrolled Primordial Demon Realms can affect reality and create further Demon Realms. 195 |
| National consolidation | When a Primordial Demon Realm within its borders disappears, its remnants naturally strengthen the Divine Land. 217 |
| Rejection of dependency | The Divine Land may use Primordial Beginnings, but rejects relying on or connecting them on a national scale because doing so risks catastrophe. 200 202 |
Relations with Sects and Noble Families
The Divine Land historically coexisted with sects and noble families, whose members often lived in Primordial Beginnings and treated reality as the “mortal realm.” 182
Its relationship with these groups deteriorated as the Divine Land gained the power to challenge their control of resources, territory, and Primordial Beginnings. 207 209
- Cooperative factions — Acknowledge the Divine Land, follow its rules, help suppress demons, and may retain fiefdoms or Primordial Beginnings gained through their contributions. 207
- Neutral factions — Avoid direct involvement in the human world but seek equal standing with the Divine Land. 207
- Resistant sects and families — Seek to merge Primordial Beginnings and ascend independently, placing them in direct opposition to national policy. 211 214
- Surrendered groups — May preserve their people and continue cultivation through integration into the Divine Land. 208 211
National Ascension
The Divine Land considers Earth to be trapped in a “vacuum” or “cage” that prevents true Ascension into the starry sky. Primordial Beginnings are understood as coordinates or fragments beyond Earth, but connecting them carries the risk of drawing in further mutated demons. 202
Its goal is a safe and orderly national Ascension: allowing the Divine Land and those connected to it to ascend together rather than abandoning ordinary people. 202 223 236
| Objective | Details |
|---|---|
| Preserve the population | The Divine Land rejects Ascension methods that allow only the strong to escape while leaving ordinary people behind. 211 223 |
| Eliminate overseas cores | Historical expansion left Divine Land-related Primordial Beginning cores across neighboring regions and Southeast Asia; these must be removed for national Ascension. 236 |
| Maintain national balance | The Divine Land seeks to eradicate Primordial Beginnings without becoming a new Primordial Beginning itself. 202 |
| Secure Ascension priority | Being late to Ascension would greatly increase the difficulty and cost of the process. 216 |
| Mobilize national resources | The Central Hub supports Li Ye as a key force capable of accelerating plans expected to take centuries into months. 202 220 |
External Position
Only the Divine Land and the Star Ring Federation are identified as possessing the influence and historical conditions required for national Ascension. 223
The Divine Land’s approach differs fundamentally from overseas powers:
| Divine Land | Outside Powers |
|---|---|
| Seeks Ascension for the nation and ordinary people. 223 236 | Seeks methods that prioritize the strong and can discard the weak. 211 223 |
| Restrains powerful martial artists and suppresses dangerous sects. 211 212 | Treats strength, bloodline, and inherited status as the basis of survival and authority. 211 221 |
| Eradicates or suppresses demon-related threats. 2 202 | May hoard, worship, exploit, or experiment on demons for power. 215 221 230 |
Relationship with Li Ye
- Li Ye — The Central Hub recognizes Li Ye as a born divine being whose origin is linked to demon-slaying, and provides him resources and strategic support. 202
- Li Ye — After he killed six Fourth Realm cultivators within a Primordial Beginning, the Divine Land’s elders chose to give him full support. 196
- Li Ye — He acts as the primary force in operations against major sects, Primordial Beginnings, and foreign powers obstructing national Ascension. 196 207 220
- Erika — A foreign-born martial artist accepted for integration and cultivation within the Divine Land after being assessed as suitable. 221
