"You're sick. Your whole family is sick." Meng Li's mouth twitched. He knew Zhou Hansheng had misunderstood, but he did not explain. At an age when others were still in elementary school, the talents they displayed were not something children their age should possess. It was only natural to be misunderstood.
Still, this was good too. It saved him a lot of trouble.
"Then thanks." Meng Li felt rather annoyed.
"This thing of yours is perfect. Both its appearance and design are incredibly advanced. Can I see exactly what it can do?" Zhou Hansheng asked impatiently.
If it could fly steadily, he intended to pay whatever it took to secure its design blueprints.
"Let's go outside. This isn't suitable for flying."
The two walked outside. Meng Li put on the boots he had been carrying, stepped onto the hoverboard, and flipped the switch. The board beneath his feet slowly rose into the air.
He used the remote control in his hand to control its altitude.
"Truly incredible. Truly incredible!"
Meng Li lightly pressed down on the front. The fan inside the rear thruster immediately spun at high speed, producing a tremendous roar as he shot forward.
He flew freely through the residential complex. Elderly men and women taking walks there, as well as the little dogs, were all drawn by the enormous noise overhead.
Before their eyes, a boy wearing a pair of highly futuristic boots stood on a skateboard, racing sports cars on the ground through the air.
They looked on with intense envy, imagining how wonderful it would be if they were up there instead. Some took out their phones to record videos, while others had already started browsing online stores for Hovering Aircraft.
Meng Li looked at the speedometer. It had already hit 180 and was still accelerating.
Looks like I'll need sunglasses whenever I speed from now on. Meng Li's hair was blown wildly upward, and the wind made his eyes sting slightly.
After speeding around once, Meng Li landed smoothly before Zhou Hansheng. A crowd had gathered around them.
Zhou Hansheng was too stunned to speak. He was now one hundred percent certain that this high-tech creation was something destined to dominate the era in the future.
After considerable effort, Zhou Hansheng and Meng Li finally got away from the crowd. They found a quiet place where no one would disturb them, ordered two coffees, and began a partnership that would change the future.
"I originally planned to buy this from you, but I can't now, because I simply can't afford it. I'm willing to offer you twenty percent of the shares in this project of our company in exchange for becoming our exclusive partner. For every unit we sell in the future, we're willing to give you twenty percent of the profits.
"Don't underestimate that twenty percent. New Soul Tool Technology Company is already among the top five companies on the entire continent, and this is the highest offer possible. Even I, the owner, only hold five percent. Once this product launches, its value will only rise further.
"What do you think, Mr. Meng?"
Zhou Hansheng's words made Meng Li understand just how valuable that twenty percent was. Combined with the exclusivity of his Hovering Aircraft, it would hold a monopoly for a very long time, and the company's market value would continue to soar.
As long as he signed the contract, he would never have to worry about food or clothing again.
"We'll sign the contract tomorrow. I agree to grant your company exclusivity." After thinking for a moment, Meng Li extended his hand.
"Thank you, Mr. Meng, for choosing our company. I'll go back and prepare the contract immediately."
After Meng Li and Zhou Hansheng shook hands, they went their separate ways.
Meng Li made a trip to the patent office to apply for a patent for his Hovering Aircraft. The staff there thought he was dreaming nonsense, but they processed the patent for him anyway.
On the way home, Meng Li held the patent for the Hovering Aircraft, unable to calm his emotions for a long time. Starting tomorrow, he would no longer have to worry about Federal Coins. That realization left him feeling strangely lost. All of this had come about because of Na'er's arrival.
When he got home, Na'er was watching anime.
"How did it go?" Na'er's expression was full of anticipation.
"It's settled. From now on, we'll be rich. You can eat whatever you want, and we'll never have to worry about not being able to afford food again."
"Then I want to eat ice cream every day."
"No. What if eating it every day ruins your stomach?" Meng Li lectured her.
The two were still discussing how they would make money with the Hovering Aircraft, but they had overlooked that what Zhou Hansheng had offered was twenty percent of the shares. Dividends would only be paid at the end of the year, and for the first few years, New Soul Tool Technology Company would invest all its money into producing and upgrading the Hovering Aircraft.
The dividends Meng Li received would be pitifully small. Only once the company was on track and the Hovering Aircraft had established an overwhelming lead would those words be appropriate.
But who knew what would happen by then?
The next day, Meng Li spent money to hire a lawyer. He took a taxi with the lawyer to the branch building of New Soul Tool Technology Company. It was not as tall as the Spirit Tower, but it was not far off.
Zhou Hansheng first took Meng Li to sign the contract. Meng Li handed the design blueprints over to the company, then Zhou Hansheng took the two of them out for a meal. There was even a special service afterward, but Meng Li declined it.
Meng Li had kept himself pure in his previous life, and he still cared about such things.
After simply getting their feet washed, the two went their separate ways and headed home.
Meng Li had originally planned to let the lawyer take a taxi back on his own. The company had promised that the first Hovering Aircraft they developed would be mailed to his home, but the first assembled Hovering Aircraft had been taken by New Soul Tool Technology Company for its collection. As a result, he could only take a taxi back with the lawyer.
When he returned home, Meng Li saw Na'er's resentful gaze again. One look was enough for him to know that it was definitely because he had not picked her up today.
"Are you hungry?" Meng Li asked.
"Hungry." Na'er blinked her large eyes and dejectedly rubbed her stomach.
"I'll cook for you." Meng Li smiled.
They usually ate outside, but outside food was nowhere near as good as Meng Li's cooking, not even half as good. Hearing that her brother would cook in person, Na'er's eyes lit up, and she excitedly jumped to her feet.
"I'll wash the rice."
Meng Li rubbed his forehead. He used to enjoy cooking, but after having to cook for six people every time for so long, he had gradually become resistant to it.
But if Na'er liked it, he would still cook once or twice a week.
Under the dim yellow light, the two busied themselves preparing dinner. It was warm and happy.
Two years later.
Red Mountain Academy office.
"Over these three years, you've been the one who has given me the most trouble. Do you know how many times the director has scolded me because of you?" Lin Ximeng handed Meng Li an admission letter from an intermediate academy.
At this time, Meng Li had paid the barber a high price for a perm. His features were delicate, his contours well-defined, and his skin fair. His eyes carried a slight depth to them. At four feet seven inches tall, he had a well-proportioned figure. He wore a white T-shirt, sweatpants, and special boots for speeding on his flying board. A silver pendant Na'er had given him hung from his collar. If he went outside now, he was undeniably a handsome young boy.
"Hehe, wasn't it all to make money and survive?" Meng Li flashed a sunny smile.
"You, honestly. You're obsessed with money all day long. Once you get to the intermediate academy, don't keep skipping classes so often. It's not like here, where teachers can cover for you." Lin Ximeng nagged endlessly like an old mother.
