Spirit Hall, underground prison.
This was where criminals wanted by Spirit Hall were held, along with many Evil Soul Masters.
Relying on the Saint Son Token, Luo Ling made his way here without obstruction.
The Soul Body Thread's Soul Search ability had already been tested on low-level soul beasts. It was time for human experiments.
"Saint Son." Upon seeing Luo Ling, the bishop guarding the prison hurried forward to greet him.
"Bishop Emile, I'd like to test one of my soul skills in the prison. Would that be alright?" Luo Ling wore an utterly harmless expression.
"The Saint Son wants to test a soul skill?" Bishop Emile was taken aback.
There were specialized testing grounds for soul skills. This, however, was a prison holding condemned criminals.
Emile hesitated, unsure what sort of soul skill Luo Ling intended to test.
"Saint Son, this is a prison, and it only holds condemned prisoners. If you wish to test a soul skill, the soul skill testing grounds would be more suitable," Bishop Emile carefully suggested.
"Bishop Emile, I came here because of these condemned prisoners." Luo Ling smiled. "Because my Martial Soul has a spiritual attribute."
"So I want to try it on these condemned prisoners. They're all sentenced to death anyway, so it doesn't matter if they go insane."
Luo Ling's voice was exceptionally gentle, yet Bishop Emile felt a chill creep over his entire body for no reason.
Why could someone say something so terrifying with such a sunny smile?
Bishop Emile trembled.
"There shouldn't be a problem, right? They're condemned prisoners anyway." Luo Ling spoke again, his profound gaze fixed on Bishop Emile.
"O-of course there's no problem." Bishop Emile shuddered and hurriedly nodded.
Luo Ling had been in Spirit Hall for a year already, and Emile had heard more or less about this Saint Son's deeds.
It was said that his Martial Soul could temporarily control other people's souls. Whether it was true or not, Emile had no desire to be controlled.
"Then thank you." Luo Ling smiled faintly and walked deeper into the prison.
Bishop Emile watched Luo Ling's retreating back. After considering it for a while, he finally gritted his teeth and ran toward Papal Hall.
Inside the underground prison.
Luo Ling paid no attention to Bishop Emile's actions. He looked at the prisoners in the surrounding cells.
The Raven Shadow Puppet emerged, then slowly merged into Luo Ling's body.
Two yellow Soul Rings intertwined and fused together, transforming into a gorgeous purple before lighting up.
As Luo Ling walked through the dim prison, the world in his eyes also turned dark.
Countless Soul Body Threads emitting faint white light stretched out from every cell, extending into darkness with no visible end.
These Soul Body Threads were all exceptionally dim. Luo Ling raised a brow, but he was not overly surprised.
They were condemned prisoners, after all. It was only natural for them to be mentally listless.
This also made it easier for Luo Ling to use the Soul Body Threads to erode them.
He would not have to worry about losing in a battle of minds.
With that thought, Luo Ling's scarlet pupils became deep and shadowed as invisible, intangible Soul Body Threads spread deeper into the prison.
Papal Hall, Council Hall.
Bibi Dong frowned as she looked at Bishop Emile kneeling below her.
"You said Xiao Ling went to the underground prison?"
"Yes, Your Holiness." Bishop Emile answered respectfully. "The Saint Son said he wanted to test a soul skill in the prison."
"Test a soul skill?" Bibi Dong was somewhat puzzled.
Luo Ling only had two soul skills, and he had not gained any new ones. What was there to test?
"What did Xiao Ling say?" Bibi Dong asked.
"The Saint Son said his Martial Soul has a spiritual attribute and that he wanted to try it on the condemned prisoners in the prison. He also said..." Bishop Emile hesitated.
"Said what?" Bibi Dong asked again impatiently.
"The Saint Son said that, since everyone in the prison was condemned to death anyway, it didn't matter even if they were driven insane." Bishop Emile gritted his teeth and repeated Luo Ling's exact words.
Hearing Bishop Emile's words, Bibi Dong's brows furrowed slightly. She also did not understand what Luo Ling was trying to do.
She did not care about the lives of the condemned prisoners, but she was worried that Luo Ling might stray down the wrong path.
"Take me to the prison." Bibi Dong sighed.
Inside the underground prison.
At that moment, wails and screams echoed throughout the prison.
All the prisoners stared in terror at the little boy standing in the corridor.
The dim torchlight illuminated the boy's incomparably handsome face.
His silver hair and dark crimson eyes gave off an inexplicable sense of dread.
Luo Ling was unaffected by the prisoners' shrieks. His eyes narrowed slightly.
The Soul Body Thread had completely eroded the Soul King before him.
This Soul King, whose Soul Power had been exhausted and whose mind was extremely weak, could not resist Luo Ling's erosion at all.
After fully taking control of his opponent's soul, Luo Ling used the Soul Body Thread to probe deeper into it.
This method of forcibly invading a soul made the Soul King before him feel as if his head were splitting apart.
It was like someone had violently smashed open his skull.
But Luo Ling remained unmoved.
He had long known this would be the result.
When he had tested it on Soft Bone Rabbits before, those rabbits had suffered the same way. In the end, they had all become idiots with shattered minds.
Luo Ling could feel that the Soul King's soul was different from a rabbit's. A human soul was sturdier and more complete.
He would not suffer a mental breakdown, but he still had to endure inhuman agony.
After quite some time, Luo Ling sighed.
He had been just a little short of entering this Soul King's deeper soul, but his Spiritual Power was nearly depleted.
He was still too weak. After Martial Soul Fusion, his Spiritual Power had already reached the level of a Soul Ancestor.
He was only a Soul Grandmaster who had yet to obtain his second Soul Ring. Having Spiritual Power at the Soul Ancestor level was already terrifying enough.
But what he faced was, after all, the soul of a Soul King.
Shaking his head slightly, Luo Ling sat cross-legged and began restoring his Spiritual Power.
If a Soul King would not work, then he would find someone weaker!
Luo Ling's gaze fell upon the weakest Soul Ancestors.
Just then, a series of footsteps came from outside the prison.
Luo Ling withdrew his gaze from the prisoners and looked behind him.
Bibi Dong appeared at the corner.
"Teacher?" Luo Ling tilted his head, feigning surprise.
"Xiao Ling, why did you come here?" Bibi Dong surveyed the surroundings. Only after finding nothing unusual did she glare at Luo Ling and ask.
"I came to test a soul skill, Teacher." Luo Ling put on an innocent expression.
"Test a soul skill? You weren't planning to use your Darkness Thread to devour Soul Power for cultivation, were you?" Bibi Dong said meaningfully.
Devouring others' Soul Power for cultivation was not permitted in Spirit Hall, even if they were condemned prisoners.
This Evil method of cultivation was forbidden.
"Of course not." Luo Ling shook his head. "I'm already level 20. My Soul Power has reached a bottleneck, so I can't absorb Soul Power to cultivate."
"You're already level 20?" Bibi Dong froze, then stepped forward and took Luo Ling's hand.
Joy appeared on her face. At level 20 at the age of eight, Luo Ling could be called the first person in Spirit Hall's history besides Qian Renxue, who had been born with innate level 20 Soul Power.
"Why didn't you tell Teacher sooner?" Bibi Dong reproached him.
"I just hadn't gotten the chance yet!" Luo Ling chuckled awkwardly as he rose from the ground.
