The senior Sister had only just led her sisters back to the second defensive line. Before they could even find their footing, the sight before her made her pupils contract sharply.
"Fire! Use up every last round in reserve! Never mind friendly fire!"
As the hoarse scream rang through the comms channel, the heavy weapons positions behind the Death Seekers erupted in an almost frenzied roar. Mortar shells, rockets, and even crudely modified explosive charges rained down between the first defensive line and the Nurgle Beasts.
But that was not the most shocking part. Moments later, countless incendiaries and flamethrowers turned the entire forward position into a sea of fire. This was indiscriminate saturation bombardment in the truest sense, sparing neither friend nor foe. Amid the thunder of high-explosive shells tearing flesh apart, vast quantities of burning industrial fuel flowed unchecked.
Within those towering flames, the senior Sister witnessed a scene that shook her soul.
The Death Seekers still alive at the center of the explosions made no attempt to escape the inferno. Instead, wrapped in roaring flames like living torches, they charged without hesitation at the Nurgle Beasts, which had also caught fire and were rolling in agony.
They pulled the pins on every grenade they carried, locked arms reduced to bone and charcoal around the beasts' slippery bodies, and even drove bayonets into the monsters' eyes, until massive explosions blasted soldiers and monsters alike into a shower of shredded flesh.
"Those bastards-"
Watching this, the senior Sister gripped her Bolter so tightly that her fingers turned white. An indescribable fury
exploded in her chest.
She was no fool. Of course she understood the mortal commander's intentions. In his eyes, the Battle Sisters were precious "elite heavy infantry," high-value assets of the Emperor, not to be squandered trading lives
