Ch. 402Who Knows the Bitter Hardships Behind

Lu Yao explored the Investment Center and learned how gods traded investments in civilizations, including the risks of using faith to accelerate growth. A Title God’s assistant, Peng Peng, approached him to pitch a new civilization, and Lu Yao agreed to hear more.

  • Lu Yao examined the Red Tide Civilization listing and learned about its population, rating, civilization level, assets, and holder.
  • Lu Yao asked Gulu about investment resources and discovered that purchases had fees, minimum amounts, and a ten-year holding period before selling.
  • Lu Yao deduced that Golden Treasury Star used investors’ faith to accelerate Red Tide Civilization’s growth and profit from its population increase, while bearing the risk of its decline or collapse.
  • Peng Peng approached Lu Yao to pitch a new civilization in his Civilization Chain, explaining that Lu Yao’s gold star marked him as a wealthy investor.
  • Lu Yao asked why Peng Peng had approached him, learned the gold star signified at least ten million usable faith, and invited Peng Peng to explain the opportunity.

Ch. 403Increase the Intensity

Lu Yao evaluated the Messenger of the Gods’ struggling Sleepless Civilization and agreed to invest two million Flame of Faith after securing a chance to send a supervisor and confirming the contract was protected by Low-Dimensional Game. He was left deciding whom to send to the civilization.

  • Peng Peng introduced himself as the Messenger of the Gods and showed Lu Yao the Sleepless Civilization investment chain.
  • The Messenger of the Gods promoted the skeleton civilization’s potential and offered permanent rights to spread faith, stable returns, and a civilization supervisor.
  • Lu Yao offered to invest two million Flame of Faith and required the Messenger of the Gods to consult him before handling any problems involving his representative.
  • Gulu confirmed that Low-Dimensional Game and the Divine Nexus enforced the investment contract and protected both parties.
  • Lu Yao invested two million Flame of Faith in the Sleepless Civilization, then considered whom to send as its supervisor.

Ch. 404Depart, Heading to the Western Paradise

Lu Yao selected Mao Cao to visit the Sleepless Civilization and placed the Golden Market in Salt City and the Bone Mound in Sun-Forging Bay. After binding a teleportation scroll to Mao Cao, he sent Mao Cao and Dragon Cat toward Western Paradise to begin the journey.

  • Isabelle and the Apostles discussed who should travel to the Sleepless Civilization, and Lu Yao chose Mao Cao as the supervisor.
  • Mao Cao accepted the assignment and asked to bring Dragon Cat, which Isabelle allowed.
  • Lu Yao placed the Golden Market outside Salt City, where residents appraised their possessions.
  • Lu Yao placed Bone Mound in Mist Harbor, and it produced two Shell Skeletons from insect corpses.
  • Lu Yao used a teleportation scroll to send Mao Cao and Dragon Cat to Western Paradise.

Ch. 405Our God Is Different

Mao Cao and the Dragon Cat traveled through Glass Country in the Western Paradise and met Appia, who escorted them to the Sleepless Civilization. After learning that its god had destroyed the former Beast Civilization and started a new one, Mao Cao wondered whether anything in this world was worth learning.

  • The Dragon Cat explained that Glass Country was an open transit world and a place where outsiders tested the local believers.
  • Mao Cao and the Dragon Cat met Appia, an Apostle of the Martyr God, who opened a portal to the Sleepless Civilization.
  • Appia described how giant beasts had escaped their tamers, leading the Martyr God to destroy the Beast Civilization and the Messenger of the Gods to begin a new civilization with the Bone Ancestors.
  • Mao Cao questioned why the Beast Civilization had not been saved, and Appia said destroying it and starting anew cost less than trying to revive it.
  • Mao Cao contrasted the Martyr God's actions with Lord Yao's efforts to resurrect destroyed worlds and doubted that the Sleepless Civilization had anything to teach him.

Ch. 406So Strange, Take Another Look

Xidar, a Bone Ancestor herder, was saved from an Electric Wolf by Mao Cao, a Prophet serving the foreign god Lord Yao. After seeing Mao Cao advocate for commoners and improve herders’ lives, Xidar began to believe in Lord Yao and wondered what life was like in the Yao Tribe.

  • Xidar found a crab-shell flower attached to a buried bone arm, then faced a wolf pack that overwhelmed his herd and destroyed his Bone Horse.
  • Mao Cao and her giant cat rescued Xidar, drove off the Electric Wolf, and accepted the flower he offered as thanks.
  • Xidar watched Mao Cao pray to Lord Yao and investigate the daily problems of farmers, herders, fishermen, and workers.
  • After Xidar reported herders’ need for protection, Mao Cao investigated, and the kingdom began providing each herder with a Skeleton Dog.
  • Xidar helped maintain Lord Yao’s temple as more Bone Ancestors sought Mao Cao’s help and began worshipping Lord Yao.
  • Apostle Appia urged Mao Cao to stop burdening the king with commoners’ troubles, but Mao Cao defended their importance, leaving Xidar wondering whether ordinary people could rise to greatness.

Ch. 407Bitter Wine Enters the Throat, Heart Aches

Appia struggled to reconcile the Martyr God’s orders to befriend Mao Cao and curb her influence, while Mao Cao’s investigations exposed serious problems in Theodore’s rule. After the Twin Snake Empire reduced its corpse supplies, Theodore embraced Mao Cao’s proposal to gather resources by force and expand the kingdom’s efforts.

  • Appia recalled that the Martyr God had ordered her both to build a good relationship with Mao Cao and to discourage her from interfering in the kingdom’s affairs.
  • Mao Cao confronted Theodore with problems in herding, farming, crafts, and the army, then secured a Skeleton Dog for the herders as a first improvement.
  • After Theodore complained to the Martyr God, Appia was tasked with handling Mao Cao, but she gradually recognized Mao Cao’s intelligence and firmness.
  • When the Twin Snake Empire’s caravan reduced its corpse payment because of poor livestock and food, Mao Cao proposed hunting monsters, exploring ruins, and expanding breeding to increase supplies.
  • After Bu En scolded him again the following year, Theodore ordered his forces to subjugate monsters and wild beasts throughout the kingdom, while Mao Cao applauded and Appia wondered whether she had fulfilled her mission.

Ch. 408Why Can't I Control My Hands!

Lu Yao bought a Tomb of the Skeleton King for the Sleepless Civilization and watched Mao Cao investigate the Resurrection Kingdom’s place at the bottom of the Civilization Chain. The chapter ended when one of the kingdom’s skeleton believers defeated a monster and Lu Yao was prompted to make it a Hero.

  • Lu Yao bought a LV2 Tomb of the Skeleton King for 2.25 million and watched its price rise as he refreshed the Exchange.
  • Mao Cao arrived in the Sleepless Civilization, where the Tomb of the Skeleton King appeared in Resurrection City and she explored the kingdom.
  • Bu En arrived with Goblins to trade corpses for livestock and grain, insulted the Resurrection Kingdom’s goods, and angered King Theodore.
  • Mao Cao advised Theodore and Appia on strengthening the kingdom, while Lu Yao learned that civilization rank depended on development and population.
  • The Messenger told Lu Yao that the Tomb of the Skeleton King was boosting the Sleepless Civilization, and a notification offered to turn a skeleton believer into a Hero after it defeated a four-armed monster.

Ch. 409If You Can Do It, You Do It

Lu Yao converted Xidar and saw how Mao Cao had transformed the Resurrection Kingdom’s army into a force that was expanding its territory. King Theodore decided Mao Cao might be best suited to succeed him, leaving Appia to weigh the consequences of that choice.

  • Lu Yao converted Xidar, whose Monster Hunter ability could inflict forced damage on monsters, and Xidar swore to serve Lord Yao.
  • Through Xidar, Lu Yao saw the skeleton army hunting monsters and expanding the Resurrection Kingdom’s territory under Marshal Mao Cao.
  • Mao Cao urged new recruits to fight for themselves, their honor, and the kingdom before sending them to the battlefield.
  • King Theodore told Appia that Mao Cao’s leadership had improved the army and that he would give Mao Cao whatever he needed to develop the kingdom.
  • Theodore said he was willing to abdicate in favor of Mao Cao despite the risk of punishment, and Appia acknowledged his resolve.

Ch. 410Dragon's Breath

Lu Yao examined civilization investments and learned how holders used investors’ Flame of Faith to accelerate their civilizations. After consulting Song Shiyi about investment opportunities and two failed-auction wonders, he bought the Blood Amber Clay Tablet for three million.

  • Lu Yao checked the Sleepless Civilization’s population, investment returns, and island-level status, then concluded that its holder benefited from using investors’ Flame of Faith to develop it.
  • Lu Yao discovered the Pala Civilization under custody and learned from Song Shiyi about the Pakkas and Silica Civilizations as possible investments.
  • Song Shiyi told Lu Yao that valuable civilizations under custody were usually bought quickly and pointed him to two wonders that had failed at auction.
  • Song Shiyi explained that Anthro-Beast Sedilia was linked to the Forgotten, gods who returned from the Overlimit Zone with their memories erased and gradually disappeared.
  • Lu Yao read that the Blood Amber Clay Tablet could help nearby Dragon Race members learn the Dragon of Blood’s abilities, and he bought it for three million.

Ch. 411The Clock of Time

Lu Yao installed the Blood Amber Clay Tablet in Blood Hill, where Pasha's blood unlocked the Dragon of Blood's letter revealing the Dragon Race's coming destruction and his failed attempt to prevent it. The letter's hidden inheritance gave Lu Yao 18 million Flame of Faith, bringing his reserve to 36.91 million as he prepared to visit Qianyuan Mountain Golden Light Cave.

  • Lu Yao placed the Blood Amber Clay Tablet beside a Blood River in Blood Hill, where it absorbed Blood Element and produced Dragon's Breath.
  • Pasha merged his blood into the amber and gained the ability [Isolated and Helpless], while Can Cong sensed a vast, unfamiliar power inside it.
  • The Dragon of Blood's blood unlocked his letter, which recounted the Millennium War, the Clock of Time, and his attempt to revive the Spirit King to avert the Dragon Race's destruction.
  • Lu Yao learned that the Dragon of Blood had failed and left his inheritance for surviving descendants to discover.
  • A golden fireball emerged from the Wonder and gave Lu Yao 18 million Flame of Faith, raising his Faith Reserve to 36.91 million.
  • Lu Yao decided to go to Qianyuan Mountain Golden Light Cave.

Ch. 412What is a Mythological Wonder

Lu Yao placed Qianyuan Mountain Golden Light Cave between Yao City and Salt City, appointed Snowman Jimmy as its divine proxy, and supplied faith to restore and open it. After Jimmy set a demanding mountain-climbing trial for visitors, several cultivators arrived, and Qianyuan Mountain produced its first invention, Origami Avatar.

  • Lu Yao spent a fortune to acquire Qianyuan Mountain Golden Light Cave and placed it between Yao City and Salt City, bringing the Yao Clan its first Mythological Wonder and boosting faith.
  • Lu Yao chose Snowman Jimmy as the wonder’s divine proxy, and Jimmy reported that it needed restoration before its abilities could operate.
  • Lu Yao invested 50,000 faith, activating Qianyuan Mountain, and Jimmy opened it to visitors while requiring them to climb up from the ground to gain entry.
  • Yan Ye and his companions reached the mountain and were admitted to cultivate, while Taixi arrived seeking to train and forge a sword.
  • Jimmy assigned the newcomers repair and maintenance work, and Qianyuan Mountain later invented Origami Avatar, gaining a slight increase in reputation and faith.

Ch. 413Substitute Death Shell

Lu Yao examined Qianyuan Mountain’s faith-powered abilities and discovered that its first creation, the Origami Avatar, could take one fatal attack in place of its occupant. As Qianyuan Mountain attracted researchers and fighters, its inventions and teachings boosted its reputation and faith.

  • Lu Yao learned that Qianyuan Mountain stored faith as Health Points and could create powerful items, though it required substantial faith and lacked independent initiative.
  • Jimmy explained that an Origami Avatar could shatter to let its deceased Ghost occupant survive one otherwise fatal attack.
  • Mu Zhai, a gardener killed while saving the Rose Garden from a dangerous transcendent rose, entered the avatar and praised how light and agile it was.
  • Philes and the White Fortress Scholars brought a Count's Handkerchief and Lone Twin Swords to Qianyuan Mountain's Deconstruction Pool, studied their components, and began attempting to reproduce them.
  • Transcendents gathered at Qianyuan Mountain to cultivate and fight, while Fahai's Giant Dharma Aspect inspired worship and Taixi's Sword in the Pond helped popularize the swordsman profession.

Ch. 414Seeking the Sword

Taixi pursued her teacher Fu Jianbei’s advice to find her own sword, eventually reaching Qian Yuan Mountain to train and forge one. As her experiments began to take shape, a mysterious Black Fur Monster attacked the mountain.

  • Fu Jianbei taught Taixi that a swordsman needed a sword of their own and sent her to find hers after two years of training.
  • Taixi traveled for years across different lands before finding Fu Jianbei in Salt City, where she became his disciple and learned the Cloud Transformation Sword.
  • After Fu Jianbei told her to seek her own sword, Taixi climbed Qian Yuan Mountain and asked Lord Ji for permission to forge a sword and temper her skills.
  • Taixi repaired the mountain’s paths, sparred with fellow disciples, and studied how the Deconstruction Pool unraveled stone and Cloud Transformation swords.
  • Taixi began combining Earth Element with cloud and Mist Element to create a new sword, but a Black Fur Monster attacked Qian Yuan Mountain and smashed a stone tower.
  • Taixi drew her sword and joined the other disciples in fighting the Black Fur Monster.

Ch. 415Sword in the Pond VS Giant Dharma Aspect

Taixi developed Sword in the Pond during the battle against Fahai’s out-of-control Giant Dharma Aspect and used it to sever his elemental connection, bringing him down. Afterward, Fahai asked her to teach him the technique, but Yan Ye called him over in a stern voice.

  • Taixi learned that the giant Black Fur Monster was Fahai, who had lost control, while Yan Ye and the protectors tried to subdue him.
  • Taixi fought alongside Qian Yuan Mountain’s disciples, and repeated clashes with Fahai’s powerful, rapidly healing body helped her realize she needed to risk everything to complete her sword.
  • Taixi forged Sword in the Pond, summoning mist swords and Swords in the Stone that weakened Fahai and cut off his connection to the Earth and Water Elements.
  • Fahai shrank back into a little monkey, and Taixi gave him dried meat after the battle.
  • Fahai told Taixi that he had created the Giant Dharma Aspect in the Treasure Refining Pavilion and asked her to teach him Sword in the Pond; she agreed.
  • Yan Ye sternly called Fahai over, and the monkey stood up at once.

Ch. 416Swordsman Path

Lu Yao watched Taixi defeat Fahai’s uncontrolled Giant Dharma Aspect, after which Qianyuan Mountain’s cultivators learned from both of them and the mountain’s influence grew. He then checked Four Directions Country in the Abyss and discovered that three armies had arrived with gifts, apparently seeking friendship and cooperation.

  • Snowman explained that Fahai had lost control after triggering Giant Dharma Aspect while trying to create a staff for Yan Ye, and Lu Yao stopped Jimmy from intervening.
  • Taixi used Sword in the Pond to cut Fahai off from Earth Element healing and defeat it with Armor Piercing and Heavy Strike.
  • Taixi taught Cloud Transformation Sword and Sword in the Pond at Qianyuan Mountain while continuing her research at the Deconstruction Pool, and Yan Ye sentenced Fahai to carry stones and dig waterways.
  • Qianyuan Mountain attracted more seekers, and its Flame of Faith grew to 580,000 as Snowman and Jimmy screened aspiring cultivators.
  • Lu Yao checked Four Directions Country and saw three armies approaching Four Directions City with supplies; an Orc transcendent said Lord Dalia wanted friendship and long-term cooperation and presented gifts.

Ch. 417Her Majesty the Queen asked me to give you a message

Lu Yao learned how White God had stabilized and developed Four Directions Country before cautiously exploring the Abyss’s Fifth Layer and arranging trade with neighboring Demigods. The chapter ended when a werewolf delivered a queen’s message to Rock King Butterfly, asking whether their old “Pact on the Fist” still counted.

  • White God reported that Four Directions Country had spent decades building a stable foundation and had begun scouting the Fifth Layer with Slaughter Locusts.
  • White God described the Fifth Layer’s powerful Demigods and explained that Four Directions Country’s entrance bordered Norland’s territory and three other Demigod domains.
  • Mayor Botu negotiated a trade with Cheng Xin, granting the Cheng You two extra dan of Garlic in exchange for chickens, Omnipotence Stones, and shed fluff.
  • White God explained that pests and weeds made crops difficult to grow in the Fifth Layer, making Dalia’s trade in Garlic and Potato mutually beneficial.
  • A werewolf told Rock King Butterfly that a queen wanted to know whether their old “Pact on the Fist” still counted.

Ch. 418All Elements Present

Lu Yao learned that Bone King had asked Four Directions Country for protection from Norland and considered whether to intervene. After unsealing the passage to the Fifth Layer and seeing Norland’s Mage Tower network, Lu Yao decided to buy a Heretical Siren Stone Circle to counter it.

  • A werewolf delivered Bone King’s encrypted plea to Rock King, and Lu Yao deciphered her request to become Four Directions Country’s vassal in exchange for help against Norland.
  • Hai Zhe warned that Norland’s Mage Towers made war too costly, while Botu and Rock King argued that helping Bone King could open the Fifth Layer to expansion.
  • Lu Yao unsealed the passage to the Fifth Layer, gaining 128,000 Flame of Faith and revealing its chaotic landscape and Norland’s network of Mage Towers.
  • After assessing the towers’ range and firepower, Lu Yao decided to avoid intervening directly and searched the Exchange for a ranged Wonder.
  • Lu Yao chose an 82,000-value Heretical Siren Stone Circle as a potential counter to the Mage Towers.

Ch. 419They Asked Me To Go, How Could I Go?

Lu Yao used the Megalith Array to disrupt Norland’s Mage Towers and help the Four Directions Country establish a foothold on the Fifth Layer. As Spiro’s forces struggled against the sound and more arrays appeared around their territory, Lu Yao found a curse that would let him enter the world through a proxy.

  • Lu Yao activated the Megalith Array, whose song killed one mage and drove two others from their Mage Towers.
  • The White God organized the Four Directions Country’s forces, and Hai Zhe led Corpse Demons to build a fortified stronghold around the array.
  • Spiro arrived with reinforcements and demanded that Hai Zhe withdraw and surrender the Wonder, but Hai Zhe refused.
  • The Megalith Array disrupted Norland’s construction efforts, and Hai Zhe told Spiro that the music restored and strengthened the Yao Tribe.
  • Spiro learned that Megalith Arrays had also appeared near the Bone King’s and Chicken King’s territories, leaving his forces overwhelmed.
  • Lu Yao found the Curse of the Proxy on the Exchange, allowing him to descend into the world through a willing proxy for twelve hours.

Ch. 420The Abyss Does Not Believe in the Weak

Nidya accepted Four Directions Country’s help, and Niu Sansi built a Megalith Array whose cursed song disrupted Norland’s Mage Towers. As Norland launched an assault, Rock King arrived to take command, while Nidya learned that Four Directions Country included a Brain Worm loyal to Lord Yao.

  • Four Directions Country offered to protect Nidya’s territory if she made it a vassal and followed its orders.
  • Niu Sansi directed Corpse Demons and werewolves to build and activate the Megalith Array, whose song incapacitated mages in nearby towers.
  • Norland’s mages suffered madness and disruption, but Norland continued reinforcing the front and prepared to annex Nidya’s territory.
  • On the deadline’s final day, Rock King arrived and ordered Nidya’s forces to withdraw while the Corpse Demon legion faced Norland’s attack.
  • Rock King introduced Xiao Zhi, a Brain Worm and loyal member of Four Directions Country, and told Nidya that the White God served as one of Lord Yao’s Subordinate Gods.
  • Brain Worm examined its restored body, exchanged an unexplained moment with Rock King, and headed toward the front as Nidya chose to trust the powerful Rock King.

Ch. 421Attack, Xiao Zhi!

Lu Yao used the Curse of the Proxy to possess the Little Panda Brain Worm and experienced the Abyss firsthand as he watched the Corpse Demon army defeat a Spellcaster legion. Just as the battle ended, Norland teleported Lu Yao, Niu Sansi, and several Corpse Demons to the core of his territory.

  • Lu Yao chose the Little Panda Brain Worm as his Proxy, took control of its body, and asked Butterflies to keep his descent secret.
  • Lu Yao inspected the Fifth Layer’s creatures and watched Niu Sansi command the Corpse Demon legion as it overwhelmed the Magic Bag’s Spellcasters with coordinated attacks and Black Roses.
  • Several enemy mages mistook Lu Yao for a bear or cat and attacked him, so he killed them with a 5,000-Faith lightning bombardment.
  • As Lu Yao hurried toward the battlefield, Norland used a spell to teleport him, Niu Sansi, and some Corpse Demon soldiers away.
  • Nidya realized Norland had sent the group to the core of his territory, while Butterflies regretted losing an interesting opponent.
