  • Lu Yao discovered that Odin had given the Dagas people Runes and sent Fugin and Munin to help manage the Magic Wells and watch Leviathan.

Ch. 690Keep Up!

Joseph failed to become an airship pilot after getting airsick, but his work at Maintenance Station No. 77 led him to invent a Magnetic Probe and earn recognition from Fahai. He befriended Lia, learned that rumors had exaggerated her illness, and married her a month later—then regretted it.

  • Joseph joined Maintenance Station No. 77 as a repair worker after airsickness ended his pilot ambitions, and Captain Kepler welcomed him.
  • After a year of isolation and discouragement, Joseph met senior safety inspector Lia and regained his drive, then heard from Kepler that she was going blind from damage caused by an accident at the Magic Well.

Ch. 691It Has Its Own Ideas

Joseph struggled with renewed emptiness and worried as Lia returned to dangerous Magic Well research, but he supported her mission to record the collapsing wells and develop new energy sources. • Lia woke Joseph when her prosthetic left hand began acting on its own, so he took her to Sand City to confront its maker, Shuai Zai.
  • Shuai Zai explained that the Xenomorph Prosthetic was living tissue with thoughts of its own, then recognized Joseph and eagerly asked him to inspect an invention inspired by the Magnetic Probe.

Ch. 692Brain, Spin Until You Die!

Joseph’s celebrated invention, the Magnetic Probe, was combined with Shuai Zai’s Stretchy Hand to make magic well surveys safer, but the praise and pressure led Philes and Black Forge to reveal that Lia was Joseph’s imagined companion and that he had lost his right arm in a magic well accident. After treatment at the Sun Temple, Joseph accepted his past and recovered his ambition, leaving determined to conquer the Magic Well and pursue Lady Daughter of the Sun.

  • Shuai Zai demonstrated his heavy, awkward Stretchy Hand, and Lia realized it could be adapted to extend the Magnetic Probe into magic wells.
  • Lia and Shuai Zai worked with Philes and Black Forge to integrate the Stretchy Hand, Magnetic Probe, and Magic Box Garden into a successful survey system that reduced casualties.
  • Philes and Black Forge praised Joseph’s role and asked for advice, but Joseph said his main concern was Lia’s safety.
  • Philes and Black Forge took Joseph to the Sun Temple, where Philes revealed that Lia had never existed and that the maintenance workers had played along with Joseph’s delusion.
  • Joseph recovered memories of losing his right arm and creating Lia as a way to cope, then thanked Lord Yao and Lady Daughter of the Sun for his treatment.
