Harry had assumed that, with the Malfoy mother and son's pride, they would leave immediately upon seeing them.
And Narcissa's actions matched his expectations.
"Shall we go somewhere else, darling?"
Narcissa drew back her gaze and looked at her son.
"No need, Mum—"
Draco's response surprised Harry. He gave Harry a deep look and made no response to the hateful stares from Harry and Ron. He merely spoke softly, then led his mother to a table a little farther away.
Old Tom soon brought lunch to the mother and son.
The Malfoy family's table manners went without saying. Though they were only in a shabby pub set up inside a tent, their dining etiquette remained impeccable.
Harry and Ron exchanged a glance and remained silent, not making any further provocations.
The pleasant mealtime was gone for good.
Harry and Ron sullenly sipped their Butterbeer, their eyes fixed firmly on the Malfoy mother and son.
Narcissa had surely sensed the scrutiny from the two Gryffindor wizards, but she did not warn them off.
"Eat quickly, Draco. We still have a great many things to buy—"
Draco had barely eaten a few bites before he became distracted again. He stared blankly at the kidney steak on his plate without moving.
Seeing this, Narcissa reminded him, but Draco did not resume eating. Instead, he set down his knife and fork.
Rather than use the napkin provided by the pub, he took a handkerchief from the pocket of his fitted suit jacket and wiped his mouth.
"I don't have much of an appetite, Mum—"
With that, he tossed the handkerchief onto the table, clearly having no intention of keeping it.
"Very well. Eating less won't do you any harm. The food here may not be very clean anyway—"
Narcissa looked tenderly at Draco's face,
