With no warning whatsoever and no chance to prepare herself mentally, Hermione felt as though she had been stuffed into a tumble dryer. The world before her eyes spun violently in light and shadow, while her ears filled with a fierce roaring!
The sudden change made her scream uncontrollably. The violent fluctuation of magic transformed her tail fin back into two slender, long legs, and the bubble covering her head burst as well. Amid the chaos, the only thing she could do was clutch Harry and Ron, who were still in front of her.
When the world finally steadied, Hermione discovered that Harry and Ron were not the only ones who had moved with her. Krum and Fleur's most important people—Gabrielle and Professor Karkaroff—were beside her as well.
The pressure of deep water suddenly vanished. As air thick with a fishy, damp smell rushed into their nostrils, the pale-faced "treasures" gradually regained consciousness, and the ropes binding them loosened.
Harry blinked, trying hard to clear the haze from his vision, but no matter what he did, everything remained blurred. Then he realized that droplets clinging to his glasses were preventing him from seeing clearly.
After taking off his glasses and wiping them on his robes a few times, Harry quickly put them back on and surveyed the situation. The first thing he saw was Ron beside him, tapping at the gray, stone-textured platform beneath their feet with the tip of his shoe.
"You did it, Hermione! You brought Ron and me out from the bottom of the lake!"
Harry happily grabbed the arm of the unusually woozy Hermione and shook it a few times.
"What place did we come in?"
Only after asking did Harry realize something was wrong. Gabrielle and Karkaroff were here too. They were not by the
