Government interference in mainstream news media happened everywhere, whether in the Muggle world or the wizarding world, regardless of the country. But when Remus received that day's New York Ghostly Times early the next morning and found not a single word about the previous night's events, he was still somewhat taken aback.
"I thought they'd mention it at least a little."
Remus said this to Amosta, who was seriously eating a bacon sandwich across the table, and handed him the newspaper.
New York no longer had yesterday's fine weather. To the southeast of the city, a vast mass of rain clouds blocking out the sunlight was being swept toward the city by fierce upper winds. A heavy downpour seemed unavoidable.
After flipping through several pages and skimming the reports, Amosta tossed the newspaper aside. He swallowed his food, took a sip of hot tea to clear his throat, and said,
"Under normal circumstances, MACUSA probably wouldn't keep such a tight lid on the news. But with the election at hand, anything can become ammunition for attacking one's opponents—especially an incident this serious. Both sides are bound to suspect it is a trap set by their rivals, so they have tacitly chosen to suppress the news. It isn't difficult to understand."
Remus nodded. This was none of their business, and they had no need to worry about what came next. Their attention still needed to be focused on dealing with next week's Joint Review Committee.
Yesterday, they had learned some highly valuable information from Narlack and found out about the dirt that could ruin Graves.
But it was still not easy to handle.
Threatening Graves with it was not a wise move. Tearing off all pretense and flipping the table could be a good way to force an opponent to yield,
