Misunderstanding? Harry was a little baffled.
He knew perfectly well that the Ministry of Magic and Hogwarts—especially Professor Dumbledore—were now almost at each other's throats. Fudge had even used his authority to remove Professor Dumbledore from his position as Chief Warlock of the Wizengamot.
But what misunderstanding could there be?
Why was Percy looking at him when he said that? Harry blinked. He vaguely sensed what Percy was getting at, but it was not yet clear.
"You know, for all these years, the Ministry of Magic and Hogwarts have always gotten along well. Professor Breen—"
Percy said earnestly,
"Minister Fudge fully respects Hogwarts's rights, and he respects Professor Dumbledore and you as well. But the Ministry cannot simply stand by and watch the wizarding world descend into chaos, its people gripped by panic because of a—"
Percy's eyes flickered.
"Because of an unverified piece of information."
An unverified piece of information had caused panic throughout the wizarding world?
At that moment, if Harry still did not understand what Ron's brother was implying, then he was truly stupid beyond belief!
Crash!
Harry knocked over his chair as he sprang to his feet even more fiercely than Hermione had. Ron stared at Percy in disbelief as well. Clearly, he too understood what Percy meant.
"You think I'm lying!"
Harry's face turned livid. Whatever small amount of goodwill he had once accumulated toward Ron's brother vanished completely. He snapped,
"You think I made it all up, don't you, Percy? You think Voldemort never came back?"
"Oh, don't get angry, Harry—"
The office instantly became tense enough to cut with a knife, and Percy could no longer remain seated. He rose hesitantly, somewhat ashamed to face the furious glares of the three of them, but he still said,
"I'm not saying you're lying. It's
