"How did I fall asleep?"
Li Li rubbed his eyes and woke up in the empty warehouse.
It was already dark outside.
He took out his phone, checked the time, and a sense of dread washed over him.
It was 8 PM on January 15th, Alliance Year 1104. Thirty-seven hours had passed since the morning he summoned the Earthlings.
After teaching the 'Level 8 Great Gale' how to control its body, Li Li had returned to the warehouse. Overcome with exhaustion, he sat down on a delivery box and dozed off.
He had accidentally fallen asleep.
When he had extracted the [Ember] from 'Amulet Owl', he had not only used up his reserve Faith but also drawn about 1600 Faith from its origin, which was why he was so weak.
"I slept for so long and no one's back yet. Did they all get wiped out..."
He stretched and walked out of the warehouse, gazing at the clear night sky as he activated the power of the [Divine Legion].
The [Divine Legion] was originally a manually controlled army for players. Although Li Li had now broken down the legion into individual units and handed over the control to the Earthlings, he could still sense the legion's location and observe the world through their eyes.
He first checked how many living units were still in the [Divine Legion].
Then, he scratched his head in confusion, completely bewildered.
All ten bodies controlled by the Earthlings were still alive, but the situation was different from what Li Li had expected.
Li Li had initially thought the best-case scenario was for these ten Earthlings to stick together, using the [Ember] he had given to 'Amulet Owl' to jointly harvest Faith in the wasteland.
But the reality was that only three honest individuals had gone outside the city, while the others were scattered throughout Iron Wall City.
What was baffling was that the three honest individuals who had gone to the wasteland were so dim that they were almost imperceptible.
It indicated they had harvested nothing so far.
Conversely, the ones who had stayed within the city were emitting a warm glow, clearly having collected a considerable amount of Faith.
Li Li couldn't be bothered to ponder it further. He simply closed his eyes and projected his consciousness into these bodies, wanting to understand what had happened from their first-person perspective.
First, he focused on the brightest light, the Half-Winged Celestial named 'Golden Wind'.
Through 'Golden Wind's' eyes, he saw the interior of a luxurious car.
This individual was sitting in the back seat of a luxury car, smoking a cigar with a glass of red wine beside him, exuding an air of comfort.
The car's side windows were covered by curtains, obscuring the street view. From his peripheral vision, Li Li could only see a tree-person driver with lush green moss and a tree-person in a suit and oversized sunglasses in the front seat.
Tree-person gangsters?
Li Li began to suspect if his abilities were malfunctioning.
He withdrew from 'Golden Wind's' field of vision and carefully sensed the distance between them, realizing the car was heading towards him.
"Is this guy coming to upgrade, or to cause trouble?" Li Li muttered to himself.
He wasn't afraid of 'Golden Wind' rebelling, as he could expel 'Golden Wind's' soul projection and take its place at any time.
However, he still preferred his original body over the ones created by the [Divine Legion].
After peeking for a few more minutes and confirming he couldn't get any more information from 'Golden Wind's' eyes, Li Li gave up and shifted his attention to the second brightest, a Human named 'Amulet Owl'.
The first thing that caught his eye was a dim passage covered in slippery green moss.
It appeared to be the city's sewer system.
Before Li Li could react, the view suddenly lurched forward. A metal spearhead emerged from the right, piercing a strange cat with a human face on its belly.
This thrust seemed to mark the beginning of a sequence, and the vision instantly shifted from static to dynamic.
'Amulet Owl' scanned its surroundings at extreme speed, and in the next moment, chose a direction, moving like a parkour practitioner, scaling walls and leaping over obstacles, narrowly dodging a lunging monster dog.
The surroundings were filled with wriggling shadows, like lurking monsters. Li Li only caught a blurry glimpse of a shape before his spear once again pierced an approaching monster.
After watching for just a few minutes, Li Li, an outsider to combat, understood 'Amulet Owl's' terrifying battlefield reaction capabilities.
His spear technique wasn't particularly flashy, but he always managed to find the optimal breakthrough route within the monsters' encirclement.
Each time, he would spend less than half a second scanning his surroundings, gathering all the information, immediately planning his next move, and executing it with confidence and decisiveness.
It was like an owl hunting in the night.
After watching for a while longer, Li Li noticed that besides the small monsters, there was also a bulky, humanoid monster that 'Amulet Owl' was keeping at a distance.
This suspected leader appeared quite clumsy, but its actual top speed was not slow; it was simply being outmaneuvered by 'Amulet Owl'.
So there was this thing in the sewers?
Li Li withdrew from 'Amulet Owl's' vision, took out a small notebook, and jotted down the inconsistencies.
"'Golden Wind' joined a gang in less than two days, and 'Amulet Owl' is very familiar with the sewer terrain."
"Why is that?"
Li Li was increasingly unable to comprehend the backgrounds of these Earthlings...
He put away his notebook, closed his eyes again, and observed the third target, an Elf named 'Sakurajima Mai'.
Just hearing the name, Li Li knew this guy's marksmanship must be very accurate.
Sakurajima Mai's vision cleared up considerably. There was a delicious-smelling pork cutlet rice bowl, a desk piled high with case files, police officers in uniform, a blood-stained sleeve, and a wanted poster with a large red 'X' marked on it.
Li Li had chosen Chinese as the default language when creating this world, so he could clearly understand the information on the wanted poster.
He withdrew his gaze, took out his phone, and searched for the wanted criminal's name. He then learned that the bounty for this person was 210,000 Alliance Coins.
"This wanted notice was issued 3 years ago, dead or alive. The crime is... spreading a cult."
Did this guy become a bounty hunter?
Li Li gasped, suddenly feeling that Iron Wall City was no longer safe.
Gangsters, bio-monsters, wanted criminals.
Were the people he summoned planning to provoke all the dark forces within Iron Wall City and then drag him down with them?
Not to mention anything far away, the black luxury car that Golden Wind was riding in was about to drive towards him!
Thinking of this, Li Li took out his small notebook again, wrote "Things to Do" at the top of the page, and then recorded below:
"1: Get a new identity."
He continued to spy on the other Descenders and found that the vision of Li Yuan and Level 8 Great Gale was black, but their bodies were alive. They must have gone offline to rest.
He wondered if these guys had found a safe environment for their bodies before leaving.
The three guys outside the city were all present.
Not Iaido, But Drawing Sword and I Don't Want to Pay Breach of Contract Fees were together. They seemed to be leading a team, deciding the team's direction of advancement.
Li Li spied for a while and found that the team's composition was very mixed.
There were scholars holding books, mercenaries wearing exoskeletons, three knights in full armor holding long swords, and a mining mech over five meters tall.
"Sigh..." Li Li sighed and looked at the last player.
As expected, the last guy hadn't helped him find anyone either.
Lost a Leg was sitting by a lush large lake. His vision was still, and Li Li didn't know what he was busy with.
Li Li sensed the distance between them and looked at the map again. He judged that this guy should be in the Misty Forest, 200 kilometers away from Iron Wall City.
He wondered what he was doing.
After looking around, Li Li's doubts only increased.
Although he could spy on these people's eyes, he still felt blind and deaf, only able to guess and deduce their actions without understanding their thoughts at all.
However, at least one thing could be confirmed.
These people had been to his world before, and not just once.
