Appearance

Golden Wind is a Half-Winged Celestial with a conspicuous golden wing, golden bangs, and shining golden pupils. He favors a polished appearance rather than standard player equipment, often presenting himself with aristocratic composure. 12 14

  • Performs a formal Celestial greeting with a hand over his chest and his golden wing unfolded. 7 14
  • Wears a fitted black suit, replacing the cheap clothes initially supplied to Players. 14
  • Ties back his golden bangs to reveal his golden eyes. 14
  • Usually fights with a longsword; he also possesses an enchanted shotgun. 14 171

Personality

Golden Wind is confident, calculating, and exceptionally composed under pressure. During his first negotiation with Antonio, he neither denied the danger nor offered guarantees he could not keep; instead, he controlled the conversation through carefully rationed answers and escalating demands. 12

As a guild leader, he treats organization as more than a source of profit. He originally created Golden Wind as a place where members could freely express themselves in full-dive worlds, while ensuring their real-life livelihoods through salaries and guild income. 67 He invests heavily in logistics, intelligence gathering, NPC development, and long-term territorial planning rather than pursuing experience alone. 138 172 288

After realizing the world is real, Golden Wind becomes increasingly concerned with responsibility, political power, and the eventual relationship between Earth and Li Li. He is wary of any immortal power becoming Earth’s future “coordinator,” but considers Li Li preferable to an unknown and ruthless alternative. 186 189

Abilities & Skills

Faith Conversion

Golden Wind gathered Faith and exchanged it for experience through Li Li.

  • Transferred 10 units of Faith during his first upgrade visit. 14
  • Calculated that one unit of Faith was equivalent to 5,000 experience points. 14
  • Was offered three Divine Army advancement paths—[Novice Paladin], [Novice Divine Scholar], and [Novice Priest]—but found them incompatible with his intended build. 14

[Meteor Strike]

Golden Wind provided Li Li with [Meteor Strike], making him the first Player to grant Li Li a skill. 14

  • The skill had been comprehended in combat but could not be advanced further without guidance. 14
  • As its provider, Golden Wind could upgrade the skill without paying the normal cost. 14

Luck Manipulation

Golden Wind can manipulate luck in combat, converting it into offensive and defensive advantages.

  • Drew away nearby good luck and converted it into a guaranteed critical sword strike against the Feathered Serpent God. 120
  • Absorbed teammates’ bad luck while his group finished the Sky Swallowing Giant Beast Hali Si; affected allies suffered reduced drop chances for several tens of minutes afterward. 288
  • Empowered nearly 200 Demigod Players with enhanced critical-hit chances and reduced odds of taking fatal damage. 425

Command, Logistics, and Intelligence

Golden Wind’s greatest strength is large-scale coordination.

  • Designed the sneak attack that defeated a Hero Rank boss, earning guild members substantial experience and real-world income. 67
  • Uses corruption-point data, respawn cycles, and monster-drop values to build experience maps for future guild decisions. 288
  • Led 500 core members and 3,000 peripheral members during the City of Elements operation. 310
  • Rejects short-term profit when it would undermine wider strategic goals, such as refusing to overcharge Players for access to a new teleportation point. 350

Equipment / Assets

  • Longsword — His primary weapon; used to channel golden light into the Gaudeliv Mother Tree and to activate luck-based effects. 171 288 425
  • Enchanted shotgun — Stored in his inventory while meeting Li Li. 14
  • Dragon-head statue and ice crystal — Used by Golden Wind’s guild to create an ice bridge from the aerial platform to the southern island cluster. 138
  • Warp Ships — Purchased for guild expansion into the Sea of Stars; Golden Wind personally tested their warp capability. 379
  • Guild warehouses and divine materials — Golden Wind’s stored god-grade materials can be used to strengthen NPCs and support their advancement. 172

Background / History

Before the current playthrough, Golden Wind led the original Golden Wind guild, the top guild on the national server of Despair Expedition OL. The guild mobilized more than 2,000 salaried employees to locate and defeat limited World Bosses for its professional club. During one such expedition, its force of over 100 elite players arrived only to witness Lost a Leg solo-kill Heavenly Outcast · Garuda. 44

Golden Wind was among the first ten Players summoned by Li Li. He formally greeted the exhausted Creator God on behalf of his guild, immediately presenting himself as a representative rather than an ordinary player. 7 189

In Iron Wall City, he approached Old Treant Antonio and the Gaudeliv Gang with claims of knowledge from the future. In exchange for attempting to rescue the gang’s missing Mother Tree, he demanded the entire gang—its people, wealth, businesses, and connections—submit to Golden Wind. Antonio accepted, and Golden Wind’s first command was to have two Silver Rank treants accompany him to Broken Sword Valley. 12

Golden Wind later fulfilled his promise by personally leading 30 Players above level 80 to capture the corrupted, level-122 Mother Tree at the Warm Fungal Mat. The group successfully removed her Boss template and restored her status as an NPC, allowing her eventual return to the treants’ territory. 171

Story Role / Major Arcs

Guild Expansion and Territorial Development

Golden Wind established an island territory around a fishing village and the nearby Rabbit Hole, intending to turn it into a transportation hub and art town populated by NPC settlers. 160 He recruited Players through formal résumé submissions, hired NPC specialists, and secured the southern island cluster for guild development. 138

When his guild warehouse was robbed, Golden Wind prioritized punishing the thieves over recovering the low-value stolen materials. He proposed helping Fare reach Hero Rank and gain time-rewinding abilities, allowing the guild to investigate the theft directly through the past. 172

Recognition of the World’s Reality

Golden Wind was among the Players who recognized that the setting was not merely a game. He discussed the Heavenly Realm’s threat with Li Li and worried that the souls of Players might eventually be copied into this world after death. 184 186

He also questioned Li Li about Corruption and Earth’s future. His concern was not simply whether Li Li presently intended to harm Earth, but whether an immortal god could eventually become an unchecked ruler over humanity. 189

Wind of Dawn and Bud

Wind of Dawn served as Golden Wind’s intelligence specialist and a key figure in guild administration. Her copy, created by Li Li from a soul record, confessed romantic feelings toward Golden Wind before choosing to become Li Li’s Saintess. 187

The Saintess later chose the name Bud. Golden Wind comforted her as she struggled with her identity and accepted her as a person rather than dismissing her as an imitation. 188 189 Bud subsequently spent much of her free time in Golden Wind’s territory, becoming viewed by other Players as the guild’s “exclusive Saintess.” 221

Continental and Interworld Expeditions

Golden Wind formed elite eight-player groups to clear Bosses across the Bountiful Continent. Their stated purpose was to acquire rare materials, but he also used the campaign to map corruption consumption, respawn rates, experience values, and future resource opportunities. 288

During the conflict with Gnuo’s forces, he committed significant resources to battle for a world fragment meteorite. Although he saw it as a potential future sanctuary beyond Li Li’s control, he decided to sell it rather than commit to the immense cost of building a nation from scratch. 383 388 393

Earth Negotiations

Earth’s official authorities selected Golden Wind to negotiate with Li Li. He realized the assignment was partly intended to keep him from aligning too closely with the Creator God and to create distrust between them. 299

Rather than openly taking either side, Golden Wind attempted to keep negotiations peaceful while conveying the officials’ information and concerns. His handling of the talks dissatisfied some officials, but prevented an immediate collapse in relations. 298 299

Relationships

  • Li Li / Creator God — Early partner and source of Golden Wind’s Faith conversion and advancement access. Golden Wind later became one of Li Li’s most candid interlocutors regarding Corruption, Earth, and divine power. 14 189
  • Wind of Dawn — Intelligence analyst, senior guild member, and Golden Wind’s girlfriend. Their relationship deepened after the revelation that the world was real. 178 221 288
  • Bud — Saintess created from a copy of Wind of Dawn’s soul record. Golden Wind supported her through her identity crisis after her transformation. 187 188
  • Old Treant Antonio — Leader of the Gaudeliv Gang. Antonio submitted the gang to Golden Wind in return for an attempt to save the Mother Tree. 12 171
  • Three Stages of Fighting Spirit — Prominent newer guild member and expedition ally. Golden Wind supported his faction within the guild and worked alongside him during Boss-clearing campaigns. 172 288
  • Hu Tutu — Guild Master of Imperial Hegemony and Golden Wind’s longtime rival. Their competition drives both guilds’ expansion and resource strategies. 182 289
  • Earth’s official authorities — Sent Golden Wind as their representative to negotiate with Li Li, despite mutual distrust over his influence among Players. 298 299
