After gossiping about Dumbledore in his heart for a moment, Andy looked at Professor Flitwick and asked doubtfully, "Professor, what is the functional difference between alchemical creations and ordinary magical items?"

"I mean the difference in what they can do."

Logically speaking, they were both magical items. Only the methods used to make them differed.

Yet alchemy enjoyed a prestigious reputation in the Wizarding World, while ordinary magical items were commonplace.

Their prices were worlds apart.

"Collins, didn't I say so? Magical items are made with a wizard's magic. Since it is a wizard's magic, we can master it through study."

Professor Flitwick explained with a smile, "But alchemy is different. It is another magical system, and through alchemy, we can create different magical items."

"For instance... the Philosopher's Stone!"

"You cannot brew an Elixir of Immortality with magic."

"But the Philosopher's Stone can."

"And there are other alchemical creations as well. Unlike a wizard's magic, they possess abilities that wizards cannot master."

"Of course, in most cases, their functions are somewhat similar."

So that was it!

Andy finally understood why alchemy enjoyed such prestige in the Wizarding World.

It was not merely because of the Philosopher's Stone's fame, but more because alchemy was a magical system distinct from traditional spells.

Things spells could accomplish might not be possible for alchemical creations.

And the reverse was true as well.

Some abilities of alchemical creations could not be achieved through wizarding spells.

Looking at the book in his hands, Andy suddenly felt as if the door to a new world had opened before him.

Not long ago, Andy had been dismissing alchemy because it could not improve a wizard's magical ability. But now, he genuinely wanted to study alchemy.
