Andy returned to England with the Collins family when he was one year old. Though physically a child, he retains memories and maturity from a previous Muggle life, giving him an intense, near-fanatical fascination with magic 1 3.

Before Hogwarts, he lived near the Weasleys in St. Catchpole Village and knew Ron Weasley, George Weasley, and Fred Weasley. He found Ron difficult to connect with because Ron preferred Quidditch and boasting while Andy wanted to discuss magical theory and research 3 8.
