Background

Pei Xiangyun is the daughter of Prince Changning, Pei Ming, a former guard captain who served alongside the Yu family and was later granted a princely title. She grew up alongside Yu Qinghan and considers her an elder sister despite their lack of blood relation. She is three years younger than Yu Qinghan and was twenty when she arrived at Huai Pawnshop. 55 56

After beating a nobleman who flirted with her, Xiangyun was sent by her father to a Sect for discipline. She found the Sect’s austere routine intolerable and secretly escaped, traveling to Jin Province to visit Yu Qinghan. 55

Before reaching Jin Province, she traveled through Jiangnan and witnessed refugees fleeing a severe drought. She also learned from Sect disciples that evil cults were emerging across several regions, prompting her to urge Yu Qinghan to return to the capital. 56

Arrival at Huai Pawnshop

Xiangyun arrives in Jin Province after escaping her Sect, intending to visit Yu Qinghan and bring her gifts from the capital. She discovers that the man who ignored her while buying intimate apparel at Hua Chun House is Zhao Huai, Yu Qinghan’s husband. 53 55 56

Though initially suspicious of Zhao Huai, she is impressed by his cooking and begins to understand why Yu Qinghan chose him. 57

Capital Crisis

When Yu Qinghan leaves for the capital, Xiangyun stays behind to observe Zhao Huai and prevent him from acting recklessly. Zhao Huai forces her to reveal Yu Qinghan’s dangerous history and destination, leading him to travel to the capital and rescue Yu Qinghan. 87

Afterward, Xiangyun admits that Pei Ming had intended to gather forces to support Yu Qinghan’s claim to the throne. Yu Qinghan reprimands her for concealing the plan, but ultimately recognizes that the Pei family acted out of concern for her. 99

Jin Province Demon Sect Crisis

Xiangyun remains at Huai Pawnshop while Zhao Huai investigates threats surrounding the Ancestor Artifact. The Netherworld Old Demon uses her as leverage to draw Zhao Huai out, overwhelms her despite her resistance, and leaves her severely wounded. 129 130

Believing Zhao Huai dead, she grieves before resolving to seek Yu Qinghan and the Limitless Immortal Sect for revenge. Yu Qinghan later finds her injured in Jin Province and learns of Zhao Huai’s supposed death through her. 131 133

Xiangyun continues to stand beside Yu Qinghan during the collapse of Great Xia’s old order and Yu Qinghan’s rise as a national heroine.
