The enormous black tentacle, like a thick python, lashed toward Chen Siyu and Chen Ruixuan with lightning speed. Chen Ruixuan's little face turned pale with fright, and he instinctively hid behind Chen Siyu. Chen Siyu, however, did not panic in the slightest. She quickly put away the Chaos Spirit Rhinoceros Technique and the medicinal pill, then rapidly formed hand seals.
The Five-Colored Ribbon flew from her hands once more. After circling through the air, it transformed into a five-colored barrier of light, firmly protecting the siblings. The black tentacle slammed heavily into the barrier with a muffled boom. The barrier shook violently, yet it stubbornly held off the attack.
"Big Sister, what is that thing? It's so scary!" Chen Ruixuan's voice trembled slightly. While maintaining the barrier, Chen Siyu comforted her brother. "Don't be afraid, Little Brother. It should be an evil spirit from the ruins. We can definitely defeat it!"
The evil spirit seemed enraged by the two children's resistance. More black tentacles extended from the vortex, crazily attacking the five-colored barrier. Seeing that his sister's attack had worked, Chen Ruixuan was encouraged as well. He pulled a Slingshot from his pocket. This was no ordinary slingshot, but a small magical treasure he had picked up while playing in the Primordial World. Chen Ruixuan loaded it with a pellet condensed from spiritual energy, aimed at the center of the vortex, and pulled the slingshot taut. With a whoosh, the pellet shot toward the vortex like a meteor.
When the pellet struck the vortex, it erupted with a dazzling light, and the vortex shook violently. Sensing the threat, the evil spirit stopped attacking blindly and instead tried to gather its strength for an even more powerful attack. Chen Siyu seized the opportunity and cast the rune spell again. Golden runes continuously flew toward the vortex, gradually weakening the evil spirit's power.
Under the siblings' alternating attacks, the vortex gradually began to shrink, and the evil spirit's aura grew weaker and weaker.
