Background / History

Jiang Ying first encounters Li Changsheng after both are injured by the self-destruction of the Dragon-Snake Demon King. Poisoned during the encounter, she uses Li Changsheng’s Innate Yang Qi to suppress the poison and leaves after warning him to keep the incident secret. She then returns to the Xi Sect, enters seclusion, and reaches the Dharma Aspect Realm in three months. 177

She is publicly revealed as a Xi Sect true disciple during the True Disciple Competition. Despite only being at the early Dharma Aspect Realm, she defeats opponents of higher cultivation and ultimately earns the position of third true disciple. Her loss to Zhang Wan and surrender to Qin Xuan demonstrate the gap she still intends to overcome. 200 201

Jiang Ying’s incomplete Taiyin Sacred Body repeatedly causes eruptions of Taiyin Qi. She initially forces Li Changsheng to assist in suppressing it, but the two later reach an agreement: he cultivates the Nine Yang Body Refining Technique to supply stronger Innate Yang Qi, while she seeks a permanent cure. 202 204 205
