Arc 12The Moon and the Chūnin Exams
The joint Chūnin Exams brought the villages together as Huomen’s rebellion, Toneri’s attack, and Obito’s battle with the Hamura Statue shook the Shinobi World. The exams ended with few survivors, while Hinata faced the Caged Bird Seal and Genitsu chose not to interfere with the Hyuga Clan.
- Minato appointed Genitsu chief examiner for the joint Chūnin Exams, and Shin attended for the Eye Organization as Monster while Deidara forced his way into the exams.
- Genitsu’s written test and forest trial eliminated most examinees, while Kimimaro’s team killed Kusagakure competitors and Shin planned to take swords from the Mist team.
- Huomen rebelled against the Hyuga Clan, used a sealing scroll to steal Hiashi’s eyes, and gained enhanced Byakugan before Iroha offered him a place in the Eye Organization.
- Huomen escaped to the moon, where Genitsu revealed that his cells had spread through Huomen’s body and fought Toneri as Toneri attacked with the Hamura Statue.
- Obito and Tobi battled Toneri and destroyed the Hamura Statue, then Obito killed Toneri and Genitsu captured Toneri’s soul before the Sage of Six Paths could keep it in the Pure Land.
- Genitsu made Huomen use his awakened Karma to connect with the Giant Tenseigan, then left him stranded on the moon as Minato struggled to contain the turmoil.
- Kabuto and Fū defeated Chōjūrō during the forest trial, and Genma ended the exam by promoting all eleven survivors to Chūnin while Monster watched Mangetsu.
- Hiashi agreed to place the Caged Bird Seal on Hinata at Hizashi’s demand, and Hinata fled to Naruto as Genitsu told Iroha that Root would not intervene.
