East African history classes broadly focused on two categories: Far East history, and the history of Rome and the Holy Roman Empire.

This was not deliberate. Ancient world history was, at its core, chiefly the history of the Eurasian continent, with North Africa added in. East Africa certainly would not make a point of teaching the history of the Arab regions, while Indian history was fine to listen to as mythology.

German history was rather sparse. It could indeed be linked to the ancient Germans, but to Rome, the ancient Germans had been nothing but barbarians. Besides, Britain, France, Germany, and Austria, along with a whole host of other nations, were all connected to the ancient Germans. After all, it was the ancient Germans who brought down the Western Roman Empire. It was therefore better to directly graft the history of the Roman Empire onto that of the Holy Roman Empire.

Yet none of this had anything to do with East Africa. East Africa merely needed the experiences and lessons behind history, to prevent historical nihilism or pseudo-history theories from becoming popular in the future.

Using history as a mirror was not difficult for Far Easterners in Ernst's previous life. They could occasionally draw on it when encountering problems in daily life. But for many countries lacking history, it was exceedingly difficult.

Of course, some countries deliberately concealed history and covered up their national crimes. Then, at some point in the future, they would still tread the old road, because their descendants had not received proper historical values. Repeating the same mistakes was inevitable.

This was also why Ernst would not deny East Africa's colonial history in the future. Merit was merit, fault was fault. So long as it gave future East Africans sufficient warning, that was enough.
