Laozi Remained Actionless and Completely Stopped Interfering
When the Earth Vein seal of Kunlun Mountain was completely closed, and when the fearful oath of the Yuanshi Tianzun Primordial World, the Taiqing Heaven Beyond the Thirty-Three Heavens was an eternally tranquil place.
There are no magnificent palaces or enchanting music here, only a simple thatched hut, a Green Ox leisurely munching on immortal herbs, and an old Daoist priest with white hair and beard.
Laozi Tzu sat cross-legged on a futon, his eyes slightly closed, as if he had already entered a state of deep meditation for eternity.
He didn't look at the cloud mirror or water curtain, but everything that happened in the entire Primordial World, from the Two Saints of the West being thrown out of the world like trash, to the Yuanshi Tianzun being terrified and personally disbanding the Chan Sect and imprisoning himself in Kunlun, was clearly reflected in his heart without stirring up a ripple.
He was like a detached spectator, calmly enjoying the final act of this grand drama, directed by the new era and starring the old.
Watching Yuanshi's seemingly mad "performance," Laozi's eternally calm face showed not even a trace of mockery or pity.
However, when the barrier of laws that isolated the Primordial World was fully formed, and when the aura of the Yuanshi Tianzun completely disappeared from the Daoist Master, Laozi finally slowly opened his eyes.
What kind of eyes were those?
There was no joy, no sorrow, no anger, and no delight.
What remains is only endless vicissitudes, and something even deeper than vicissitudes—a kind of emptiness called "non-action."
"Well..."
A long, drawn-out sigh escaped Laozi's lips.
The sigh was soft, yet it seemed to carry the weight of an entire era. The Green Ox in front of the thatched hut paused in its grazing, raised its head, and looked at its master with its intelligent eyes, as if it had sensed something.
Their era, the long epoch initiated by Dao Ancestor Hongjun and dominated by the Three Pure Ones and the Two Saints of the West, came to an end at this moment in the most thorough and farcical way.
Laozi slowly stood up, his movements deliberate, like a true old man from the mortal world.
"Xuan Du."
He called softly.
Before the words had even faded, the space in front of him rippled slightly, and a handsome young Daoist priest dressed in Bagua Daoist Robe robe appeared out of thin air, bowing respectfully to him.
"Disciple Xuan Du greets Master."
The Laozi was none other than Grand Master Xuandu, Laozi's only and most mysterious direct disciple in the Primordial World.
Xuan Du was filled with doubt.
Since the Investiture of the Gods Calamity, his teacher had never summoned him again, only instructing him to cultivate in seclusion in the Taiqing Heaven. Why was he suddenly summoned today? Moreover, he keenly sensed that the Taiqing Heaven seemed somewhat different from usual today.
That omnipresent, Pure and Actionless Daoist aura seems to have faded considerably.
Laozi offered no explanation, but simply gazed silently at his only disciple. For the first time, a barely perceptible ripple appeared in his empty eyes.
"Xuan Du, how many Yuanhui have you been cultivating with me?"
Xuan Du was taken aback, not expecting his teacher to ask this. He thought carefully and respectfully replied, "Reporting to the teacher, since I was enlightened by you and led into the Daoist path, 36,000 Yuanhui have passed."
"Thirty-six thousand yuan..." Laozi muttered to himself, nodding, "That's long enough."
Before he finished speaking, he suddenly raised his finger and gently touched Xuan Du's brow.
Xuan Du's body jolted, and he had no time to react.
Three dazzling orbs of light, imbued with the supreme essence of the Great Dao, flew from Laozi's fingertips and entered his Purple Mansion Sea of Consciousness.
Boom!
Xuan Du felt as if his head was about to explode.
The first ray of light contained endless alchemy techniques, encompassing everything from identifying the most minute herbs of the Primordial World to the supreme mysteries of refining the Nine-Turn Golden Elixir.
The second beam of light transformed into a massive scroll of black and white energy flowing endlessly. Within that scroll, yin and yang evolved, and the Five Elements shifted, seemingly containing the most fundamental principles of balance and protection between heaven and earth. It was the complete inheritance of the Innate Supreme Treasure, the Taiji Diagram.
The third ray of light was the most mysterious, directly transforming into three figures identical to him, merging with his Primordial Spirit. This was the supreme divine power upon which the Three Pure Ones relied for their fame: One Qi Transforms into Three Pure Ones!
This... this is the entire legacy of the teacher!
Xuan Du instantly understood what all this meant. His face turned deathly pale, and he collapsed to his knees with a thud, his voice trembling with a sob.
"Teacher! What are you doing? I am foolish and ignorant. If I have done anything wrong, please punish me! You mustn't do this!"
He thought he had done something wrong, and that his teacher was going to expel him from the school.
Laozi looked at his panicked appearance, slowly shook his head, and said in a calm voice.
"It's none of your business."
"The ways of Heaven change, and the old ways must be forgotten. My way is no longer accepted in this new world."
"Xuan Du, our master-disciple relationship has come to an end."
Laozi stretched out his hand and waved it gently.
A gentle yet irresistible force lifted Xuan Du up and sent it towards the outer reaches of Taiqing Heaven.
"From this day forward, you are free to travel the heavens. This new world may be even more interesting than the one we created."
Enveloped by that power, Xuan Du was involuntarily thrown backward. He desperately reached out, trying to grab onto something, but only grasped at nothingness.
He watched helplessly as his teacher's figure grew smaller and smaller in his field of vision, and the simple thatched hut and the leisurely Green Ox became blurry.
The teacher... is going to abandon this world.
A thought that filled Xuan Du with immense fear arose in his mind.
After seeing off his only disciple, Laozi turned around and took one last look at the Green Ox that had accompanied him for countless eons, then gently patted its large head.
Then, step by step, he walked to the Eight Trigrams Furnace, which had also accompanied him through countless eons.
There was no flame in the furnace, only a chaotic void.
Without the slightest hesitation, Laozi lifted the furnace lid, stepped inside, and sat cross-legged again.
He closed his eyes, a relieved smile appearing on his face.
The next moment, his saintly body began to emit a faint light.
The light was neither dazzling nor scorching, yet it was dissolving his existence in an incredible way.
He used his own body as fuel, taking his saintly body, cultivated over millions of years, as the purest fuel.
He used the Tao as fire, igniting the supreme Tao that was with him and represented "non-action".
He was neither committing suicide nor annihilating himself.
He is returning.
Let us return the name "Grand Supreme Elder Lao," which carries the weight of countless ages and causes, and the sage's form, "Li Er," to heaven and earth, and to the Great Dao.
As his body gradually became transparent, the entire Taiqing Heaven, the thatched hut, the Green Ox, the mountains and trees, all transformed into the purest Daoist essence and merged into his body.
Finally, when Laozi's figure completely disappeared into the Eight Trigrams Furnace, the entire Beyond the Thirty-Three Heavens trembled violently.
Everything disappeared.
Taiqing Heaven is gone.
Instead, an indescribable symbol hangs at the very top of the new Heavenly Dao Laws.
It does not emit light, does not speak, and shows no signs of will.
It simply exists, representing "balance," "nature," and "governing by doing nothing."
It became part of the new Heavenly Way, an eternal law plugin, no longer interfering in any worldly affairs.
From then on, Beyond the Thirty-Three Heavens, there was no more Grand Supreme Elder Lao.
Thus, the era of the old Three Pure Ones came to an end in the most thorough and quiet way.
