The ghostly creature, thin as a skeleton and clad in snow-white, reached toward a Coiled Dragon Stone Pillar nearby.
The coiled dragon carved upon the pillar immediately opened its mouth and spat out a scroll of bamboo slips that looked on the verge of rotting away.
White Ghost gently stroked the bamboo slips. Only after a long while did he toss them back out. The coiled dragon swallowed the slips again, turning back into an unmoving stone carving upon the pillar.
White Ghost tilted his head up slightly, his gaze seeming to pierce through the lower levels and the secret realm, gazing afar at the Nether Saint Sect above Ghost Pit. A trace of complexity flashed through his eyes.
"Nether Saint Sect..."
After a long while, White Ghost gave a sinister chuckle.
"I wonder how many old acquaintances from back then are still dragging out a wretched existence. Better if every last one of them is dead—especially Three Bodies Great One. Better if he's dead beyond all doubt. Then there'll be some peace and quiet."
White Ghost took a step forward. Black shackles, each three inches wide, abruptly appeared around his wrists, ankles, and neck. The black chains connected to the shackles stretched all the way back to the throne behind him.
White Ghost paid them no mind and walked forward step by step. Fine cracks slowly surfaced across the chains, and amid a series of cracking sounds, they shattered and dissipated.
Yet just as every chain shattered, black light flickered from the center of his back. A black chain as thick as an arm extended from there and plunged into the throne behind him.
White Ghost's advancing body came to an abrupt halt.
White Ghost twisted his head around and lowered it to look at his back, appearing somewhat
