After thinking it over and over, Gou Hanhan still felt it was better to believe it existed than to believe it did not. Whether it was true or not, he would simply assume that person had come to handle things. Fortunately, only a handful of major events had happened in the Land of Eternal Night over all these years.
Putting those events together, the great deity Gou Hanhan did think of something. It seemed that every one of them had, more or less, some connection to the Daoist Sect.
Thus, a bold thought emerged. Could that ruthless figure whose name and identity nobody knew be connected to the Daoist Sect?
Given the Daoist Sect's way of doing things, if he had unknowingly helped the Daoist Sect before, that person might indeed have shown him mercy.
So Gou Hanhan continued to think back. Had he been shown mercy back then for the very same reason?
After giving it a little thought, the more he pondered it, the more it felt right. Back then, he really did not seem to have any grudge against the Daoist Sect. There were even two people in the Daoist Sect with whom he had a decent relationship. Especially that shameless old bastard who had borrowed his candle and never returned it—yet he had not fallen out with him over it.
Halfway through following that line of thought, Gou Hanhan did not dare think any further. He quickly snuffed out the thought he had just had. Knowing too much brought no benefit; true or false, it was better not to know.
Gou Hanhan went back into hiding. The Land of Eternal Night lighting up did not have that great an impact anyway. In this godforsaken place, outsiders would not come even once in eight hundred years.
The
