Really!
Let Me Stay in Diagon Alley Alone? Wonderful!
After leaving Madam Malkin's Robes for All Occasions.
Black headed straight for Flourish and Blotts next door.
Dumbledore watched Black's cheerful retreating figure with a smile.
He had been the same once.
The shops that interested him most.
Aside from the Wand Shop.
Were bookstores that could bring knowledge.
Dumbledore looked at the child.
A strange feeling suddenly arose in his heart.
It was a feeling so long absent that he had nearly forgotten it...
Back before he had become headmaster.
He had also, like Professor McGonagall.
Guided young wizards from the Muggle world.
He had met quite a few young wizards.
Some of whom had left a deep impression on him...
But he had never felt the way he did today.
Perhaps it was because those children had all belonged to other families.
While this child was one of his own?
What a strange feeling.
Dumbledore shook his head with a wry smile.
For some reason.
He suddenly thought of his younger sister, Ariana.
If she had not died back then.
And had not fallen ill.
Then it should have been like this today.
He would have taken her shopping.
Then watched her enroll with his own eyes.
And finally, watched her slowly grow up...
Dumbledore was stunned.
So this was...
That long-lost feeling of family...
Black arrived at the entrance of Flourish and Blotts.
And gazed eagerly at the books inside.
It was already evening.
There were only a few scattered customers in the shop.
Apparently, the busy period had just passed.
"Come on. If there's a book you like, buy it."
Dumbledore said generously.
Just as they were about to enter Flourish and Blotts.
An owl suddenly glided down from the sky.
A letter was clamped in its beak.
Dumbledore frowned.
As the owl drew near him.
It tossed the letter directly at him.
Dumbledore held out a hand.
And caught the letter with remarkable agility.
After opening it and taking a look.
He frowned again.
Seeing this.
Black could not help twitching at the corner of his mouth.
He had just been thinking.
Surely nothing unexpected could happen in a bookstore.
And now, the unexpected had arrived.
"If you have something important to attend to, then please hurry and go."
Black said obediently.
"Sorry, Black," Dumbledore said apologetically.
Black did not mind too much.
Dumbledore was actually very busy.
Besides handling matters at his school.
He also had to advise that idiot Minister at the Ministry of Magic.
Because of that.
The fact that he had taken time to investigate Black's background.
Then accompanied him while he moved house and bought things.
Was already no small feat.
Black could not ask for too much.
Most importantly...
Only when Dumbledore was not around.
Could he really cut loose!
"This has the pocket money I'm giving you."
"You can use it to buy books you like and anything else."
"But before buying books, make sure you look carefully at the author's name."
"If it has my name on it, don't buy it. There should definitely be copies at home."
Dumbledore winked.
"Oh, right. Get a room at the Leaky Cauldron tonight."
"After all, you'll need to visit Mr. Ollivander every day for the next few days."
"So you'll have to stay in Diagon Alley for the next few days."
"Oh, and don't worry about Bear Big. I'll have someone look after him."
"I'll take these things home for you first."
Black held the heavy money pouch.
And replied with a beaming smile, "All right, please rest assured."
Dumbledore nodded.
He was fairly reassured when it came to Black.
This child was indeed far more independent and self-reliant than other children.
Watching Dumbledore's figure vanish around the street corner, laden with bags and parcels.
Black's mouth nearly split from smiling.
He could stay in Diagon Alley for several days!
And all by himself!
Wonderful!
On his own.
He could buy some strange seeds.
As well as some strange Fantastic Beasts!
But for now, he had better buy all the books that interested him first!
Otherwise, the bookstore would be closing soon!
Black was highly efficient.
The moment he entered, he handed his book list to a clerk.
And asked him to gather all the textbooks on it.
Then he began wandering around the bookstore by himself.
Flourish and Blotts had one thing in common with the Wand Shop.
Its shelves were piled incredibly high.
They almost reached the ceiling.
Black did not waste any time.
And began selecting the books he wanted to buy.
Very quickly.
Black's eyes were dazzled by the selection.
Flourish and Blotts truly deserved to be the largest bookstore in Diagon Alley.
It had books of every conceivable kind.
There were huge leather-bound books as large as paving slabs.
And tiny silver-covered books no bigger than postage stamps.
Some books were filled with messy symbols.
While others did not contain a single word.
Black even tripped over an invisible book that had fallen onto the floor...
Though there were plenty of strange books.
There were even more ordinary ones.
Black searched for quite a while.
Before finally finding books that interested him.
