A monster of stark white bones draped in purplish-red rotten flesh crashed to the ground. The pervasive blood aura was nearly visible to the naked eye as it flowed into Maria's body.

At the same time, Kevin swung his sword and severed the heads of two Sumerian descendants. He kept replaying the shapes of the monsters' mouths as they muttered before dying, unable to stop himself from murmuring.

"What exactly were they saying?"

"May my Queen... embrace the Child of Blood..."

Maria gazed at the ancient patterns emerging on the Rakuyo after it had drunk its fill of blood and muttered softly.

"This is an ancient knightly creed passed down in Cainhurst Castle. They will fight for it their entire lives."

Kevin raised his head in surprise and looked at the female hunter, who was rarely willing to speak of such secrets. Pretending to be puzzled, he probed cautiously.

"Senior Sister Maria, what exactly is the connection between the Sumerian Queen, Cainhurst Castle, and this so-called knightly creed?"

The female hunter pressed her lips together and fell silent for a moment before raising her eyes toward the face-covering stone statues on either side of the massive stone gate.

"At Cainhurst Castle, Vampire Knights regularly hunt the monsters in the Forbidden Forest and obtain [Filth Blood] from their bodies as offerings to Queen Annalise."

"And what Annalise needs to do is absorb this Filth Blood, purify and refine it, and ultimately give birth to a [Child of Blood]..."

"This is the shared ideal of all vampires. For that, they do not mind including humans among their hunting targets..."

With her back to Kevin, the scarlet glow in Maria's eyes grew increasingly intense.
