"He-El's expression sharpened. "The Monitors!""
The last time he had heard the name of that race was when Doctor Manhattan had warned him.
Doctor Manhattan had once warned He-El that the Monitors had detected the birth of a fifty-third Source Universe. That was the instant He-El had once released the He-El Universe, alerting every figure in DC.
The Monitors had wanted to locate the fifty-third Source Universe and had begun merging numerous Parallel Universes.
It could be said that the rapid merging of the Parallel Universes had actually been caused by the He-El Universe He-El released drawing their covetous attention, prompting the Monitors to accelerate the fusion of the Parallel Universes.
Of course, Doctor Manhattan had also always intended to merge the Parallel Universes. But to He-El, the pace of that fusion seemed more like casual research and observation. He was in no hurry.
"You know about the Monitors?" Hearing He-El mention the Monitors, General Zod stared at him with wide eyes. He had not expected He-El to possibly know of them as well.
"A little, not much. They're probably Guardians or observers of the universe, something like that. They're also the ones merging the Parallel Universes." He-El replied, "What? Have you... encountered the Monitors?"
He-El's gaze shifted back and forth between General Zod and Faora.
General Zod let out a heavy breath. Bubbles continuously rose from the pale green nutrient fluid as he solemnly said, "Yes, we encountered them. An irresistible power. One of the Monitors granted me an irresistible power and sent me to pilot the Doomsday Warship, launching Reality Missiles into this universe to destroy the Parallel Universes connected to it."
He-El found that somewhat strange.
"Why destroy this universe? Aren't all the Parallel Universes already merging?" He-El asked.
"I don't know either. They said this universe
