The many Guardians of the Universe felt like ordinary people plunged into the depths of the sea, suddenly subjected to immense pressure. Their organs grew heavy, their vision abruptly darkened, as though the end of the world had arrived.

The other Guardians of the Universe also changed expression. Those who had been meditating with their eyes closed opened them and stood, while those who had not simply rose from their seated cultivation postures. Under He-El's imposing aura, they solemnly knelt on one knee. "Greetings, Your Majesty."
He-El calmly swept his gaze over the more than fifty Guardians of the Universe. Some had knelt a little slower; they were Guardians who had merged in from other Parallel Universes.
The Guardians of the Universe were orderly and reliable in their work, making them worthy of New Krypton's trust. As long as they were not allowed to make decisions, they were the finest tools.
But once the Guardians of the Universe started making decisions, things became disastrous.

When Larfleeze and several criminals obtained the Orange Lanterns, the Guardians of the Universe, seeking to avoid war with the Orange Lanterns, demanded that Larfleeze kill all his companions. They promised not to interfere so long as the Orange Lanterns belonged to Larfleeze alone. Yet this attempt to avoid war laid the groundwork for the future War of Light.
