"I only wanted to talk to you about it... but this works too!"
He-El had not intended to spar with Master Roshi.
Or rather, He-El had never really intended to spar with anyone. It held no meaning for him.
Sparring and venting any amount of power would not make He-El feel as though he had improved at all.
With the knowledge He-El possessed, as long as he gained a basic understanding of Ki's structure, he could develop techniques more extreme and numerous than anyone else's.
What he needed to do here was study the relationship between Ki and the body, then train himself to become stronger. Fighting was a distant secondary concern.
But since Master Roshi wanted him to experience his Ki through battle, He-El did not mind.
"Bulma, move to the side." He-El waved Bulma away from where she stood and began warming up.
Bulma felt her scalp go numb, her teeth trembling slightly. "Are you really going to spar with Master Roshi? He's the World's Greatest Martial Artist!"
Although she knew He-El was strong, he was still going to fight Master Roshi, the World's Greatest Martial Artist. She could not help worrying.
"Don't worry. It's only a spar. No one's life will be in danger." He-El stretched his leg.
"That's hard to say. Fists and kicks have no eyes. Getting severely injured, crippled, or even killed is perfectly normal among martial artists."
Master Roshi jokingly frightened Bulma. He handed his wooden staff and the three-star Dragon Ball hanging from his chest to Turtle, then began the slow stretching exercises of an old man loosening his joints.
Knowing Master Roshi was joking, Bulma went along with it. "Grandpa Master Roshi, the World's Greatest Martial Artist, wouldn't beat a twelve-year-old child to death!!! Ah! A Dragon Ball!"
