Outside the plaza of a secret small base in the south, Emperor Pilaf held a small case containing a Dragon Ball.
Ever since Emperor Pilaf had taken advantage of Dr. Gero of the Red Ribbon Army attacking He-El's laboratory to flee West City with Ashu and Mai amid the chaos, they had traveled far away by ship and plane. Only after putting enough distance between themselves and West City did they arrive at one of his old, abandoned bases in the south.
Fortunately, during their escape from West City, they had found a One-Star Dragon Ball.
Finding the One-Star Dragon Ball rekindled Emperor Pilaf's ambitions. He did not even care about finding King Piccolo anymore; he only wanted to gather all the Dragon Balls as quickly as possible.
"This time, I'll definitely gather all seven Dragon Balls before they do, and then I'll wish for He-El to die." Emperor Pilaf gritted his teeth, hating He-El for treating him like a slave.
Working for He-El in He-El's laboratory had been the most humiliating and degrading experience of Emperor Pilaf's life. He had to erase that disgrace.
And to erase it, he first had to kill He-El.
Of course, he did not dare confront He-El head-on.
Especially after learning that He-El had won the World Martial Arts Tournament. Before that, He-El had blown up his castle robot with a single blow, nearly scaring him into wetting himself.
Then, some time ago, he had seen on the news that He-El had defeated the Red Ribbon Army, seized control of it, and reformed it into a righteous military force.
