He-El's body radiated a fluid force suited to this ocean planet's air and water, and he plunged into the sea even more smoothly than a fish.
From the spacecraft high above the sea, Bulma monitored the pressure readings on He-El's body. The pressure quickly rose past ten times gravity, then twenty, thirty, forty, and toward fifty.
He-El had already descended into the depths of the ocean. Darkness filled his sight, with only the Ki he controlled around his body emitting a golden glow in the deep sea.
The pressure of the deep sea steadily compressed the Ki He-El had released. Sensing the pattern of the ocean's pressure on this planet, he gradually released more Ki as he descended.
Soon, at nearly a hundred times gravity, He-El saw vast swaths of plants in the Dark Ocean.
"Seaweed?" Looking down, He-El saw enormous amounts of seaweed densely covering the seabed.
He-El flicked a light orb into the distance with his Ki. Its light shot dozens of kilometers through the ocean, illuminating endless stretches of seaweed along the way—far too much to count.
Yet there were no living creatures within the seaweed.
Seaweed should have played an important role in the marine ecosystem, forming seaweed beds that provided habitats for marine life, reduced waves, stabilized water temperatures, and benefited the growth and reproduction of ocean creatures.
But this deep-sea seaweed bed was somewhat strange.
As He-El descended toward it, the seaweed bed seemed to detect a living creature approaching and rippled excitedly. Endless seaweed wrapped around He-El, only to be shredded by the Ki radiating from him. The nutrients from the shredded seaweed were then absorbed by the living seaweed. It was almost recycling taken to the extreme, capable of forming a peculiar biosphere on its own.
"A strange form of biosphere, entirely
