Beerus's face was ashen as he let out a sorrowful, complicated sigh. "This wasn't a battle at all."
A battle was supposed to have give and take, to be exhilarating and passionate, to make one's blood boil and leave one wanting more.
Yet throughout this battle between Beerus and He-El, Beerus had been attacking while He-El had been defending. Even He-El's few attacks had effortlessly sent Beerus flying.
Looking back on the battle now, Beerus realized that every one of He-El's apparent attacks had been bait, drawing him into using increasingly powerful techniques and strength, until even destruction itself had been unable to do anything to He-El.
What kind of battle was this?!
This had been nothing but a one-sided humiliation.
He had been the one performing like a monkey.
What exhilaration? What boiling blood? It had all been his own wishful thinking, his one-sided fantasy, his self-satisfaction.
Only when He-El gripped his jaw and Beerus's limbs hung limp did Beerus abruptly awaken to the fact that this had never been a battle!

It was a gulf as vast as heaven and earth, one that could never be bridged.
