In a romantic street brimming with British charm, a finely decorated café played the pleasant, soothing sounds of a vinyl record.
He-El had taken a break from his busy schedule to come here. Steam rose from the coffee on the table. Holding the handle of the cup between his fingers, he gently blew at the wavering steam before bringing his lips to the rim and taking a light sip.
Beside him sat Vivian, her skin mimicking a snowy white hue, making her complexion seem delicate enough to break at a breath. Her beautiful face was rich with expression, while her uneasy eyes and restless posture made it seem as though she could barely sit still.
"For now, Helen Cho seems utterly devoted to you, Master. I don't think she should be a problem," Vivian said cautiously.
Just last night, she had merely disguised herself as He-El, intending to complete his dinner date with Helen Cho. During their candlelit dinner, she had danced with Helen Cho to observe the behavior of human females during their mating period. Then, after dinner, she had simply put an arm around her waist and looked at the moon.
Vivian did not think there was anything wrong with that.
Vivian's emotions were not as intense as those of ordinary humans. Even though her scans had shown that certain emotional peaks in humans could reach several hundred times her own, she still could not understand what behavior would result from emotions magnified by hundreds of times.
Most of the time, Vivian observed things through data.
But humans had always been complex and ever-changing. They could never be confined to data alone.
