Oval Office.
The curtains of the three deep-blue windows were drawn open, and light streamed in from outside, falling across He-El's back as he sat at his desk, making his figure appear radiant and sacred.
The cabinet members in the office continuously presented and coordinated plans regarding Supertowns across the fifty states. From time to time, a secretary brought over a document for He-El to sign. He would usually skim it, and if there were no issues, sign his name.
It was not until the afternoon, when Nick Fury's communication request came through, that He-El dismissed the cabinet members who had been discussing the Supertown governance plan for so long.
He was the only one left in the Oval Office as he accepted Nick Fury's call.
"He-El, I have good news.
"The Helicarrier stationed by S.H.I.E.L.D. in the United Kingdom detected an abnormal spacetime coefficient inside an abandoned factory there. My technicians, along with Tony and Dr. Banner, reviewed the data and confirmed it was accurate.
"We can now basically confirm that Stephen and the Ancient One are trustworthy. We are about to face a crisis greater than Loki," Nick Fury said.
"Send me a copy of the data. If we have truly confirmed something that could lead to the extinction of Earth and humanity, then no matter how you look at it, it isn't good news, Nick. This is bad news," He-El replied.
"Don't rush. I called it good news because we can tentatively trust what Stephen said. There's also bad news, and this is the truly horrible kind of bad news.
"The Ancient One is dead," Nick Fury said calmly.
This mage, who had suddenly appeared before him and allied herself with the Avengers, had suddenly died. Hearing the news from Stephen, Nick Fury found it rather complicated.
