The captain leading them was terrified. His formerly stern, square-jawed face, majestic beneath his golden armor, was now warped by shock.
What was the Destroyer?
It was the most powerful weapon ever created by the King of the Gods. This weapon had helped Odin establish his position as the King of the Gods.
It was a weapon capable of killing gods.
Odin's path to becoming the King of the Gods had not been smooth. It could be said to have been paved with thorns.
But after he created the Destroyer, after it accompanied Odin in displaying his power and slaughtering gods on a massive scale, the gods had no choice but to acknowledge that a king had appeared among them.
A king of gods, the King of the Gods—Odin.
The Destroyer was the ultimate weapon that had accompanied Odin as he ascended to the throne of the King of the Gods. It inspired terror throughout the Nine Realms. If Odin himself appeared on the battlefield, some would still believe they could fight him, and there were always beings who challenged the strong, even at the cost of death.
But when the Destroyer appeared on the battlefield, no one wanted to fight it. That killing weapon stirred no battle lust. It was cold, while only the destructive beam fired from its face burned hot enough to melt even the flesh of gods.
It was Asgard's ultimate weapon.
The captain seemed to see that bloody battlefield again, to see the Destroyer striding in from afar and slaughtering gods as though they were pigs and dogs.
But unfortunately, Asgard's strongest ultimate weapon had been cleaved apart by He-El.
He-El's having cleaved apart the Destroyer did not mean Destruction could be dealt with by mortals. Forget mortals—even gods had died in untold numbers at
