Kaecilius, lying on the bed, suddenly sat upright. His eyes, sunken deep in darkness, stared at his outstretched hands. His skin was deathly pale, with black veins bulging grotesquely beneath it. In the empty hotel room, Kaecilius said:
"The disguise has failed. Luckily, I'm inside the hotel. How far is this from the Earth United Government President's Office?"
Kaecilius seemed to be talking to himself.
In a snow-covered safe house halfway up the Himalayas, Pietro Maximoff, Wanda Maximoff, and Nick Fury froze in the same posture, their eyes wide as they received the sight and sound Stephen Strange had transmitted.
"What is this?" Pietro Maximoff jumped in fright. Suddenly, his sister, Stephen Strange, and Nick Fury vanished from before his eyes, only for an old hotel room to appear in their place.
"Don't panic. Stephen used magic to replace Kaecilius's consciousness with his own and control him. He also linked our vision and senses through consciousness, letting us see what he sees," Nick Fury said calmly. "Stephen, look in a mirror. Kaecilius needs another disguise. We need to control him and get him into the Earth United Government President's Office."
"I'm inside Kaecilius's body, and I can still draw on some magic power—enough to use a transformation spell for a while." Stephen Strange controlled Kaecilius as he got out of bed. The deathly pale skin on his feet was crisscrossed by bulging black veins as he stepped onto the cold wooden floor and walked over to a full-length mirror. Reflected in it was Kaecilius's ghastly pale face, covered in black veins.
Pietro Maximoff and Wanda Maximoff both recoiled in fright. They had never seen anyone so grotesque, like a demon.
