"Thunder?" The other five enormous Buddhas, Jian Dun included, all looked up at once. Then they discovered that the half-moon which had just been visible had vanished without a trace.
The entire sky was shrouded in dark clouds, churning within as sounds continuously echoed out. The commotion resembled thunder, yet it was absolutely not the sound of thunder.
"Cough, cough." Feeling short of breath, Li Huowang dry-coughed several times before staggering and collapsing.
When he lay on the ground and looked up at the sky, Li Huowang finally saw his master again amid those black clouds. He was still as ugly as before.
Blood-soaked black feathers covered his skin. Where a head should have been, he had split open, revealing three faces of different ages.
Besides the organs he already possessed, his swollen body had sprouted other organs that could not possibly belong to a human.
Nightmarish glossy-black forms, vertical pupils like pus-filled eyes, filthy everted organs, twisted aberrant tentacles—every last one of those chaotic things was encircled by a white floating shawl that seemed to drift with immortal grace.
And those nauseating things were not fixed in place. They changed every moment, transforming into things even more hair-raising.
After watching for only a short while, Li Huowang's eyes became bloodshot, veins bulged across his forehead, and his entire head began swelling as large as the God of Longevity's.
"No, I can't look anymore." Weak to the extreme, Li Huowang hurriedly averted his gaze, only then feeling slightly better.
But it was not much better. The unceasing bleeding could still carry him away.
He stretched out his trembling hand, took several Blood-Moistening Pills for stopping bleeding from his waist, and tossed them into his mouth.
The flow of blood inside his body began to slow, and the bleeding visibly diminished.
