Sitting Forgetting Dao

Li Sui drove the carriage slowly through a secluded alley. Behind her were two people: one was a scrawny man with an unshaven face, while the other was Li Huowang, dressed in a different outfit.

This scrawny fellow who loved slicing off other people's purses was Li Huowang's target.

As the carriage jolted along, a pomelo-sized bundle gradually bounced out from the back of the carriage. The silver gleaming from inside immediately drew the shifty-eyed scrawny man over.

"Hyah~!" With a flick of the whip, Li Sui sped up the carriage. The flower-patterned cloth bundle finally fell to the ground amid the jolting, scattering a fragment of silver from within.

After Li Sui's carriage swiftly went far away, Li Huowang, standing in front, immediately rushed over and picked up the bag of silver.

He then looked left and right, gave the scrawny man watching him a soft shush, and whispered, "Shh~! Don't make a sound. Let's split the loot over there! Half this bag of silver each!"

"Okay, okay!!" At the sight of that bulging bundle, the scrawny man trembled all over with excitement.

Seeing that the fellow before him had taken the bait, Li Huowang thought to himself, Since the other scams won't work, then I'll just follow the Cheat Sutra. That should do it, right?

This was called the Drop Bag Scam, one of the Cheat Sutra's most classic scams.

The method might have been simple, but this scam had existed for at least a thousand years. Yet no matter how much time passed, people still fell for the same simple trick.

A scam did not need to be novel. As long as it worked, that was enough. Human hearts would always harbor greed, so scams that exploited humanity's dark side would never go out of date.
