Houtarou Oreki built alliances, used his strange lottery luck to help the Ichinose family, and assisted Mai Sakurajima through her invisibility. After recruiting Honami Ichinose to the student council, Oreki won a wager that pushed Kaguya Shinomiya to take the presidency from Chika Fujiwara.

• Oreki ended his fake relationship with Chika Fujiwara, befriended Rio Futaba and Kobachi Osaragi, and established the Science Club while joining the student council as accountant.
• Oreki recruited Masumi Kamuro with a promise of one hundred million yen and used their lottery scheme to give Honami Ichinose’s mother a fifty-million-yen prize.
• Oreki asked Kamuro to photograph Mai Sakurajima in a Bunny Girl outfit, then met Mai when her Puberty Syndrome made other people unable to see her.
• Oreki introduced Mai to Rio Futaba for help with her condition and pursued his plan to remove Fujiwara as Student Council President.
• Oreki persuaded Kaguya Shinomiya to bring Ichinose onto the student council, and Fujiwara approved Ichinose’s appointment as accountant.
• During a volunteer cleanup at Blood Swamp, Oreki wagered that Kaguya would rescue someone who fell in and challenged her for the presidency.

Oreki became Student Council President and helped Kaguya, Ichinose, and Mai while navigating new system quests. He entered Mitsuha’s body in Itomori and discovered that Takari, Reine Murasame’s dead friend, was the woman he needed to save.

• Kaguya Shinomiya and Oreki maneuvered each other into the Student Council presidency, with Kaguya becoming Vice President and Ichinose joining the council.
• Oreki took charge of the council’s welcome party, helped Ichinose overcome her worries, and went shopping with Kaguya, who enjoyed a rare outing without her bodyguards.
• Oreki helped Emilia repair her dress and perform as an elf, then used a system hint to investigate truancy and uncover Kaguya’s brothers’ plot against her inheritance.
• Oreki learned that Reine Murasame’s friend Takari had died by suicide in Itomori, then accepted a quest to save Bailixiang and used the Scarecrow Puppet to inhabit Mitsuha Miyamizu.
• Oreki adapted to life in Mitsuha’s body, protected her from school mockery, and met Sojiro, who selected Mitsuha for individual art instruction.
• Oreki encountered Takari in the rain and realized she was the woman he had been seeking after finding Reine Murasame’s name in her phone.
• Oreki received a quest to keep holding Takari’s hands for ten minutes and began painting to create a comfortable opportunity to do so.

Oreki used his painting talent to help Yukino and Takari, then returned to the present and began pursuing Shizuka Hiratsuka as he tried to fulfill her wish. The arc ended with Shizuka still refusing to date him, while his mission progress reached 99%.

• Oreki developed his painting skill in Mitsuha’s body, helped Takari overcome the false accusations against her, and arranged an exhibition that boosted Itomori and helped Mitsuha’s father win reelection.
• Oreki returned to the present, reunited with Mitsuha, and helped her paint a valuable picture before meeting Takari again and learning that Reine Murasame believed he had changed Takari’s fate.
• Oreki accepted a hidden quest tied to Shizuka Hiratsuka and asked Iroha for help, eventually obtaining Hiratsuka’s number and sending her a confession.
• Oreki met Hiratsuka at Sobhu High School, proposed to her, and insisted he was sincere, but she rejected him because she was his teacher and he was still a student.
• Oreki encouraged Iroha to seek Yukino’s advice about her classmates, while Yukino overheard his plans to leave school and pursue Hiratsuka.
• Yukino helped Iroha prepare to confront her former classmates, while Iroha noticed Hiratsuka secretly photographing Oreki and suspected that Hiratsuka had feelings for him.
• Oreki waited outside the office for Hiratsuka, then confronted her after she again refused to date him and pointed out her secret photographs and physical reaction to him.
• Oreki’s mission progress reached 99%, though he remained unsure how to fulfill Hiratsuka’s wish.

Oreki helped Iroha confront the rumors about her, confessed his love to Hiratsuka, and began investigating Haruno’s family after learning she was under pressure. The investigation revealed the truth about Haruno’s parents and left Yukinoshita Mother facing Haruno’s refusal to inherit the family role expected of her.

• Yukino confronted Reina’s classmates about the rumors, then exposed Ryo’s lies at his basketball practice, while Oreki later planned to make Ryo apologize publicly.
• Oreki arranged for Ryo to confess at a school assembly, where Ryo admitted fabricating messages and slandering Iroha, and the Principal announced Oreki’s recommendation to National University.
• Oreki confessed his feelings to Hiratsuka, completed her quest, and accepted her marriage proposal before learning that Haruno might be close to breaking down.
• Oreki transferred to National University, met Haruno, and asked her to introduce him to her parents so he could help her avoid inheriting the Yukinoshita family business.
• Haruno took Oreki to meet Yukinoshita Father, and they later followed him and saw him kiss another man, leaving Haruno devastated.
• Oreki and Hiratsuka identified the man as Yuigahama’s father, then worked with Haruno to discreetly learn what Yukinoshita Mother knew about the marriage.
• Oreki staged a meeting with Yukinoshita Mother, who admitted she had known Yukinoshita Father was gay and had married him in an exchange of favors.
• Oreki told Yukinoshita Mother that Haruno did not want to inherit the family role and warned that the pressure could make her collapse, while Yukinoshita Mother admitted she struggled to accept that her own life had been ruined.
