--Scene Break--
Fasinuo Province.
Notting City.
In a small village outside the city.
A thin mist rose, as though a pair of skillful hands were weaving brocade, blending brilliant colors into something dreamlike and illusory.
Pan Rock Village leaned against Thousand Rock Mountain, and its people had farmed for generations.
It was early morning, yet cooking smoke had already risen from every household. The curling smoke blended harmoniously with the scattered houses of varying heights, creating a scene as beautiful as a painting.
"The drifting clouds do not rise as high as this mountain; the hazy mountain air grows ever more bewildering the longer one gazes."
Wu Tong stood atop the mountain, looking at the breathtaking scene before him and unable to help sighing.
Whenever he thought of how he had arrived in this world, Wu Tong could not help feeling as though it were a dream.
Wu Tong had been a shut-in from Yanhuang Country on Earth. While out buying daily necessities one day, he had been hit by a truck that appeared out of nowhere.
Then he had arrived in a world he had heard about long ago in his previous life—Douluo Continent.
But... Truck Emperor, hadn't you forgotten something? Like the Golden Finger every Transmigrator was supposed to have?
Wu Tong was filled with grief and indignation. Other Transmigrators got hit by trucks and, after traveling to another world, brought all sorts of cheats with them.
Systems, superpowers, talents, cultivation methods... These Golden Fingers could all help Transmigrators reach the pinnacle of the world.
But Wu Tong seemed to have been forgotten. After arriving in Douluo Continent, aside from a fairly healthy body, he had nothing remotely extraordinary about him.
"Ah, people still have to rely on themselves. I believe that even if I awaken a useless Martial Soul, with the imagination of a Transmigrator, I can still use it to reach the pinnacle of Douluo."
After making his usual complaint, Wu Tong began consoling himself.
"Brother Tong, why are you still here? Hurry up, Martial Soul Awakening is about to begin. Grandpa Karl told me to come get you right away."
Just as Wu Tong was comforting himself, a chubby child ran up the mountain and shouted at him.
"Alright, I'm coming," Wu Tong answered.
After transmigrating here, Wu Tong had quickly become one with the children in the village through the stories from his previous life. He became the children's leader in Pan Rock Village, with a whole gang of younger followers.
Wu Tong stood up, dusted off his pants, and walked toward the child.
The two headed down the mountain together.
"Brother Tong, can you continue telling us the story after Lin Daiyu punched Zhen Guanxi and Tang Sanzang captured Sun Wukong seven times?"
As they walked, the chubby boy pleaded with Wu Tong.
"Xiao Pang, let's talk about those things after Martial Soul Awakening. Everyone might not be in the mood today, after all."
As someone who had read the original Douluo novel, Wu Tong naturally understood the defining feature of its system. Douluo Continent's cultivation system had elevated its hierarchy of discrimination to the extreme.
The divisions of bloodline, clan, and class meant that even after countless years, the continent remained a society ruled by feudal politics.
Overwhelming strength provided the strongest guarantee for the rule of the nobility.
This was also a trait shared by nearly every Xuanhuan World.
The weak were prey to the strong, the law of the jungle, and the strong were revered.
Martial Soul Awakening happened to be an opportunity to cross class boundaries. Yet the odds of meeting those conditions were only one in tens of millions.
Wu Tong knew full well just how unlikely it was for a commoner to awaken a good Martial Soul and possess Innate Soul Power.
It was no less likely than a Salted Fish turning over.
Xiao Pang deeply agreed with Wu Tong's words.
After all, as a native of Douluo Continent, he understood the importance of Martial Soul Awakening even better than Wu Tong did.
He also understood even more clearly just how devastated children who failed to awaken Soul Power would feel.
However...
"Brother Tong, my name is Da Zhuang, not Xiao Pang." Da Zhuang was extremely dissatisfied with how Wu Tong addressed him and corrected him once again.
But there was nothing he could do. Every time, Wu Tong would enthusiastically admit his mistake, only to stubbornly refuse to change.
"Alright, Xiao Pang, got it, Xiao Pang. I'll pay attention next time, Xiao Pang."
Wu Tong remained utterly unrepentant.
Hearing that, Da Zhuang gave Wu Tong another helpless look, but said nothing more.
The two continued walking toward the village together.
This is my debut novel, so I hope everyone will be understanding. If there are any mistakes, please point them out, and I will seriously consider them. Finally, I hope everyone will support the official release.
