Bang! Bang! Bang!

The bedroom door of Lieutenant General Campbell, commander of the British garrison headquarters in St. John's, Newfoundland, was knocked upon.

Two minutes later, Lieutenant General Campbell opened the door in his pajamas, his eyes still heavy with sleep.

"Hey, man, you'd better tell me something earth-shattering has happened!" Lieutenant General Campbell's tone was full of displeasure.

"General, Trepassey has come under fierce enemy bombardment. The troops stationed there suspect the Germans may land there." The adjutant reported to Lieutenant General Campbell with a panicked expression.

"What? The Germans? Attacking Trepassey? How could that be possible?" Lieutenant General Campbell stood frozen in shock.

"General, this news is absolutely true," the adjutant said.

"Damn it, why would the Germans attack Trepassey? Didn't the War Ministry just tell us that we were safe here? Bastards, we've been fooled again." Lieutenant General Campbell flew into a rage.

There were only three Infantry Divisions on all of Newfoundland. Though he did not know how many troops the German military had deployed, it was obvious they were not a force his men could withstand. Originally, the War Ministry had planned to send five Infantry Divisions and one Armored Division to Newfoundland. However, after the German military put on a posture of attacking the Caribbean Sea, the reinforcement plan was halted. Clearly, the British War Ministry believed there was no need to station too many troops in Newfoundland. But now, the Germans had obviously pulled the wool over their eyes. Their true target was actually Newfoundland.

"General, what should we do now?" the secretary asked.

"Report to the War Ministry immediately. We are under fierce German attack, and they will carry out a large-scale landing on Newfoundland. We need air support and more troops. Otherwise, Newfoundland cannot be held." Lieutenant General Campbell ordered.
