After the sorting ended, it was time for the headmaster's speech.
If this had been in China, Ted would probably have had to pull out the beef jerky he had prepared and eat a bite first.
But at Hogwarts, there was no need. Headmaster Dumbledore: Let me say a few words!
"Nitwit, blubber, oddment, tweak!"
Hermione, who had been eagerly awaiting the speech, looked at Ted in confusion. Ted spread his hands. "Wizards always have some unusual traits. Besides, he's over a hundred years old. Cut him some slack."
Hermione looked utterly deadpan. Are you serious?! Before the students could voice their questions, Dumbledore waved his hand, and mountains of food appeared on the dozen-meter-long dining tables.
There were seven plates and eight bowls, all sorts of sizes, shapes, and colors, packed to the brim!
Then came the lavish feast:
Honey-glazed chicken legs, roast beef, roast chicken, honey-glazed pork ribs, braised lamb chops, sausages, steaks, and bacon piled high like little mountains.
Pumpkin pie, Apple pie, pork pie.
Boiled potatoes, baked potatoes, mashed potatoes, and fries with ketchup.
Yorkshire pudding, boiled peas, boiled carrots, gravy, Pumpkin Juice, orange juice, and mint candies?
Good heavens, Ted had been in this world for two months, and this was the most lavish meal he had seen! Who said Great Britain had no good food? Hogwarts dared to lead the way! House-elves were the best! He could not help laughing, while the other Little Wizards cheered and dug in—especially Ron's table manners!
He was a match for Wei Heshang crashing a Japanese birthday banquet with Li Yunlong.
If Ron started doing mukbang streams, he could become a major influencer with a million followers in three months!
Just as everyone had started stuffing themselves and inhaling food like a storm—
Ron suddenly came over with a chicken leg in his hand.
Ron said, "Ted, why are you eating with two little wands?"
His friends and several nearby students all looked at Ted.
Ted: These are a pair of chopsticks, damn it!
As a Chinese Asian, it was perfectly reasonable for me to carry a pair of chopsticks around with me, okay? In less than half an hour, they had nearly finished the main course, and then it vanished with a pop.
After that came dessert—ice cream, chocolate muffins, ice cream with jam, strawberries, jelly, rice pudding, layer cake... another table piled high with food! What child could resist sweets? Especially in sugar-loving Great Britain.
Though they were already stuffed to their throats from the main course, they still forced more into their mouths.
Only Ted and Hermione barely ate any.
After all, Hermione came from a family of dentists and was very restrained when it came to sweets.
Ted, meanwhile, had disliked sweet food in both his lives. He only ate a little ice cream and a few strawberries.
While they were eating, a cry suddenly came from the neighboring table. A ghost poked his head up from beneath the table.
It was Gryffindor's resident ghost, known as Nearly Headless Nick.
Someone asked why he was called Nearly Headless Nick.
So he pulled open his head and showed them that his neck had nearly been severed.
Though he was translucent milky white, the bloody mess still gave everyone a fright.
Hermione hurriedly closed her eyes, bared her teeth in agony, and turned her head away.
Ted swallowed the little strawberry in his mouth and said, "Mr. Nick, I sympathize with what happened to you, but could you please spare a thought for those of us who are eating?"
"Oh, sorry. I thought you would like it." He looked aggrieved.
That was practically adults-only content. Who would like that? Did it make the food go down better?!
When the feast ended, the food vanished instantly, and the plates were spotless—cleaner than if a dog had licked them.
Dumbledore stood up to speak again. This time, he had much more to say and sounded far more serious. "First-years should remember that the Forbidden Forest to the northeast is out of bounds. Of course, older students must keep this in mind as well."
He looked at the Weasley Twins.
"And anyone who does not wish to suffer painful, accidental death should avoid the Third floor right-hand corridor."
Well now! Was he afraid the newly enrolled children would have nothing to do, so he was giving their curiosity somewhere to vent? If he did not want anyone going there, he could have simply sealed off the corridor.
Sure enough, the moment he finished speaking, many students below began whispering and stirring restlessly. Gryffindor had the most of them.
Ding~ Mission triggered: The corridor on the right side of the third floor, huh? (Green) Since your old headmaster has made such an "obvious hint," it would be terribly rude not to go. Objective: Find out what is hidden in the corridor on the right side of the third floor. Reward: 200 experience, random card. I have to try everything the teachers tell me not to do!
Oh, Ted had not expected a mission to be waiting for him here.
What a pleasant surprise, what a pleasant surprise!
Dumbledore paid no attention to the students' reactions and continued, "Also, Mr. Filch, our caretaker, has reminded us that magic is not to be used in the corridors."
Filch stood rather abruptly by the wall of the Great Hall. The Cat at his feet looked quite lively and adorable.
"Now that we have eaten and drunk our fill, let us sing the School Song together!
