Background
Ted was an orphan living in a Muggle orphanage when he received his Hogwarts acceptance letter. The same day, the Magic Card System awakened within him, granting him a quantified Wizard level and the talent Otherworldly Knowledge. Professor Minerva McGonagall personally brought him into the wizarding world. 2
With little money and no family support, Ted chose secondhand robes and supported himself through work in Diagon Alley. He stayed at the Leaky Cauldron in exchange for cleaning, worked for potion-maker Slug Jiggers, and studied magic independently before Hogwarts began. 4 5 10
Before school, he awakened psychic abilities and became a Mind Mage. His unusually rapid learning, photographic memory, and willingness to explore unfamiliar magic quickly distinguished him from other first-years. 9 10
At the Sorting Ceremony, Ted used Conceal Thoughts and mental interference to complicate the Sorting Hat’s judgment. He rejected Slytherin and was ultimately placed in Ravenclaw after an unusually long deliberation. 18
Appearance
Ted was initially described as a thin, somewhat malnourished boy with black hair, black eyes, and yellow skin. 2 By later years, he is described as tall, handsome, and blonde. 370 475
- Initially wore oversized secondhand wizard robes due to poverty. 14
- Usually carries a wand and is frequently accompanied by Ansu, his speaking avian familiar. 16 21
- Can alter his appearance or form through magic, including becoming a chibi skeleton through Transformation Candy. 139
Personality
Ted is intensely self-reliant. His orphan upbringing and financial circumstances lead him to work, study, and secure resources for himself rather than wait for help. 4 5 13 He is highly pragmatic about magic, favoring useful knowledge, combat effectiveness, and long-term preparation over prestige or convention. 14 66 145
He is also bold, theatrical, and unusually resistant to embarrassment. At Hogwarts’ opening feast, he turned the school song into a deliberately unconventional performance to gain experience and attention. 20 This confidence is balanced by caution: he avoids studying certain Dark Magic when he believes it could damage his mind, withholds dangerous abilities from classmates, and often conceals the full extent of his strength. 14 64 145
Despite his ambition, Ted repeatedly protects and encourages others. He treats Neville without demanding to see his scar, helps friends develop confidence and magic, assists Hagrid, and uses divination to help a victim’s family. 15 98 152 232
