Background / History
Wei Qingyu was betrothed to Gu Chen in childhood because Gu Chen’s father had been a prominent heir of the Gu Family. After Gu Chen’s parents died, the Wei Family ceased raising the engagement. 2
In her previous life, Wei Qingyu publicly broke off the engagement, only for Gu Chen to later surpass her in cultivation. She eventually developed feelings for him and relied on her connection with him to reach the Empress Realm. Despite his support, she later joined the other Empresses in attempting to kill him. 2 66 89
After being reborn, she sought Gu Chen out to break off their engagement again. Convinced that her past-life memories and techniques would let her surpass him, she provoked a fight instead. Gu Chen decisively defeated her, leaving her bruised, swollen, and unconscious before having her thrown out. 2
Seeking to regain her strength, Wei Qingyu purchased spiritual medicine and began cultivating the Sacred Origin Great Yin Scripture. Its extreme Yin nature generated dangerous cold energy in her body, forcing her to depend on medicine, acupuncture, and a Coal Stone brazier. She initially believed Gu Chen had deliberately taught her an inferior method in their previous life, deepening her resentment. 18 22 26 31
During the Rookie Competition in Immortal County, Wei Qingyu gradually reconsidered her past assumptions. Remembering that Gu Chen’s assistance had always made cultivation feel warm rather than painful, she began to suspect that he had actually been protecting her from the scripture’s cold energy. 53
Appearance
Wei Qingyu is a delicate, beautiful young woman whose immature features initially contrast with her haughty bearing. 2 47
- Often presents herself with the pride and composure expected of the Wei Family’s eldest young lady.
- Her severe injuries after confronting Gu Chen leave her limping and visibly bruised, though she insists they are only superficial. 4 8
- Her brazier-based cultivation routine repeatedly leaves her disheveled and covered in smoke. 40 47
Personality
Wei Qingyu is proud, status-conscious, and intensely competitive. At the beginning of her new life, she refuses to admit weakness, considers herself naturally superior to Gu Chen, and treats every setback as humiliation to be repaid. 2 5 18
Her pride frequently clashes with practical necessity. She rejects help from servants, refuses to acknowledge the severity of her injuries, and resents using a brazier to survive the cold backlash of her cultivation method. 8 26 31
After recognizing that she may have misunderstood Gu Chen, Wei Qingyu becomes remorseful and persistent. She repeatedly apologizes, defends him publicly, and tries to protect him despite his continued coldness toward her. 58 66 72 76
She remains impulsive and jealous, particularly when Jiang Mengxi receives Gu Chen’s attention. However, her later actions are increasingly motivated by atonement rather than revenge. 151 152 173
