Royal Capital—Fortress of Destiny.
Ed Louis's figure slowly condensed within the Gate of Destiny. Looking greatly relieved, he stepped out of the gate.
The area was already packed with staff members, all wanting to know whether the True Node had been defended.
Ed gave no answer at all. He directly unleashed his powerful Data Domain, carving out a passage for himself as he left the fortress.
He met up with Tesla and the others, who had been waiting outside the fortress.
Data cables shot out from Ed's body and wrapped around the group before connecting to the roadside power lines... Whoosh! Everyone they touched underwent Datafication, and the "Particle Radiation" squad was directly transmitted back to Ed's office as data.
Tesla immediately dropped to one knee and admitted his mistake.
"Manager Ed, it was our fault. We had clearly suspected that something might go wrong in the energy zone, but..."
To their surprise, Ed wore a relaxed smile and brought out several cups of his treasured Blue Mountain Coffee. "It's already good enough that you stayed to help.
Besides, the defeat in this war was my responsibility. It had nothing to do with you.
I called you here for something else."
"Huh?"
Tesla had thought Manager Ed was here to hold them accountable.
After all, if they had found Han Dong in the energy zone, the outcome of the war might have changed because of it.
"I said from the beginning that although the True Node was precious, it was still nothing compared to your lives.
Besides, I had already made full use of it. I got many of the things I wanted through the node, and aside from the fixed Point Reward it provided, I had basically lost nothing.
Passing it on to a human more suitable than me
