Background / History

Han Dong was a cell-biology professor in the Primordial World. Orphaned early and later raised by his maternal grandfather, he had few personal attachments beyond unfinished research projects; he died of cancer after completing his doctoral defense. Rebirth excited him chiefly as an opportunity to investigate an unknown world and its scientific system. 4 1455

His new existence began as a cell cluster in a prison. After discarding corpses in search of a viable form, he obtained the Faceless Head, escaped with a Knight squad, and entered the Holy City. Lacking sufficient “weight,” he chose the body of a weak suicide victim, Valen Nicholas, and adopted that identity. 1729

As Valen, Han Dong entered Holy City society while concealing his true nature. He became the direct student of Mr. Black and White, the Crow Prophet, and earned the trust of Cas, Sophia, and Koslin after the Clown event. 140

His advancement increasingly relied on unorthodox integration: contained beings, acquired limbs, Abyssal Demon traits, cultivation systems, and Black Tower resources. He later established influence in London City, maintained a manor populated by Abyssal Demons and modified beings, and deliberately acted as a connector between factions rather than openly leading humanity. 1304 1312

Appearance

Han Dong commonly presents himself as a thin, unhealthy-looking young man. His Valen Nicholas identity was notably malnourished and frail, while his post-Seed-Breaking pallor became an external sign of Death rather than poor health. 8 273 517

In his True Appearance, his Faceless qualities become explicit. 1907

  • A smooth gray head with only faint contours of a nose, eye sockets, and mouth; it has no visible facial openings.
  • A hazy gray tentacle extending from the back of his head, ending in a spherical structure resembling a cellular body.
  • Simplified gray arms: the left emits deathly black qi, while red blood vessels visibly protrude from the more active right arm.
  • A black vortex-patterned torso whose markings penetrate the flesh like healed scars. 1060 1907

Personality

Han Dong is driven by an intense desire to explore, research, and understand unfamiliar systems. He treats dangerous events as opportunities for observation, often prioritizing hidden truths, relationships, and long-term resources over immediate rewards. 4 14 1664

He is analytical and socially composed even under pressure. He builds alliances through negotiation, favors, and carefully calculated displays of value, but can also manipulate others when their desperation serves his objectives. 341 526 877 1312

Despite his pragmatism, Han Dong avoids treating contained beings as disposable tools. He seeks coexistence with Togo, protects companions during conflict, and repeatedly makes room for former enemies or rivals whose abilities and goals can align with his own. 148 627 2150

Abilities & Skills

Faceless Head

Han Dong's core is a Faceless Head acquired in the prison where he began his new life. It provides his imitation, disguise, containment, and adaptation abilities. 1729 1730

  • Can alter his appearance, bodily details, aura, and even species presentation with gray tentacles. 1490 1871
  • Allows him to resist the Corruption inherent in studying the Necronomicon and other dangerous knowledge. 117
  • His understanding of his “True Self” removes the self-imposed limits of human identity, allowing “Formless and Myriad Forms.” 1730
  • His completed Faceless Myth enables a True Appearance with substantially greater disguise precision. 1907
  • Imitation has allowed him to pass as human in the Holy City and impersonate targets with closely reproduced expressions, posture, and aura. 1729 1871

Lesser Demon Eye and Dark Knowledge

Han Dong studies the Necronomicon's Ocular Codex as a system of ocular knowledge rather than a source of Corrupted Entities. 117

  • Dark Knowledge is a passive first-level talent that improves reading comprehension and learning efficiency. 726
  • The Lesser Demon Eye can observe hidden structures such as Talent Trees within the brain. 669
  • He used the eye to calm Diana and assure her that the team's curse would no longer affect them. 627
  • Its perceptive ability improves alongside his Brain, though it could not detect Huo Ziping's sword draw. 703
  • The Faceless Head's Corruption resistance is essential to his study of the Codex. 117

Modified Body and Regeneration

Han Dong progressively replaces or upgrades parts of his body with abilities and materials acquired in Destiny Space. 390 720

  • Right arm — G-Type Ghoul Arm / Holy Blood Ghoul Arm: Combines a Ghoul arm, G-Virus traits, the Count's influence, and later Holy Sword bloodline. It specializes in physical combat, regeneration, and close-range power. 703 1372 1970
  • Left arm — Hand of the Undying Priest: A Purple-quality arm taken from the not-fully-recovered Imhotep; it develops further after consuming suitable Egyptian and Dark Magic materials. 720 778
  • Torso: Initially an Uncontrolled One Pennywise body, later replaced by the Epic Black Vortex Torso, which grants extraordinary environmental adaptability. 720 1280 1672
  • Can rapidly regenerate lost tissue through G-Virus cell activation, including restoring an arm during combat. 703
  • His Floating Corpse Inner Scripture allows him to dissipate incoming force rather than simply endure it. 1241

Death Domain, Mad Laughter, and the Count

Han Dong's Seed Breaking established a Death Domain and bound the Scarlet Count's consciousness into his Talent Tree as a second consciousness. 514 869

  • The Count's Mad Laughter attribute grants resistance to mental influence and complements the Faceless Head. 514
  • Han Dong can perform Abyssal Transformations without self-corruption due to his rare Corruption-immune physique. 668
  • He may allow the Count to assume partial control of his body, particularly the right arm, for transformations such as the Blood Hound. 774 959
  • His Crow Caller form expands his Death Domain and transforms him into a more threatening combat state. 703
  • The Count's independent tactics saved Han Dong from Eugenis after Han Dong was incapacitated by the Stone Spear. 1160

Deep Imitation

Deep Imitation is a demanding transformation method through which Han Dong reproduces the traits of contained allies or associated beings. 1105

  • Togo: Produces iron nails and exceptional physical toughness through Bronze Skin Iron Bones. 1198
  • Nicole: Uses Deep Sea traits to soothe and repair a damaged consciousness. 1134
  • Chen Li: Produces a slender, black-haired combat form with enhanced agility and dual weapons. 1175
  • Limit: Deep Imitation consumes substantial physical energy when the Black Vortex Torso cannot support it. 1198
  • He can also form the Blood Hound by severing and recombining his arms with the Count's death power. 1105

Domains and High-Risk Techniques

Han Dong possesses several high-level techniques built around temporary transformation, domains, and borrowed power.

  • Origin Vortex — lets him bypass the Blood Prison's usual rules to challenge the Blood Ancestor directly. 2051
  • Borrow God — Faceless Transformation — temporarily fuses him with an avatar of the Faceless God for immense power at a severe cost. 1434
  • Kush Dynasty — a domain that overwhelms opposing domains and transforms the environment into an ancient Egyptian city. 1434
  • Yellow Seal — countered Dean Richard's Void Mark with a higher-tier force. 657
  • Lethal Didacticism — absorbed from Mr. Teacher into his Mad Laughter System after their mental duel. 2150

Cultivation Techniques

Han Dong supplements his original system with external cultivation methods rather than relying on a single power source.

  • Floating Corpse Inner Scripture — grants floating, burrowing, and force-dissipation properties; its inheritance was later integrated into his Black Vortex Torso through the Floating Corpse Bead. 1215 1241 1263 1280
  • Toad Step — mastered in three months; his altered legs can adhere to surfaces and run vertically along cliffs. 1038
  • Two Forms / Yin-Yang Harmony — splits his consciousness and reconciles the contrasting natures of his arms. 1972

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Zardum, Staff of the Crow Caller — Epic staff associated with his Crow Caller and Death Domain abilities. 720
  • Master of the Blood Oath Roghorien's Netherblood Skull — Damaged Epic accessory used in combat and blood-related techniques. 720 1263
  • Plague Doctor's Short Blade — Superior-quality short blade used during his earlier Knight period. 390
  • Bone Feather Robe — Fine+ armor forged with flowing-metal inlay; made for Han Dong by Heidrig Emmon. 273 390
  • Swift Boots of the Young Griffin — Superior footwear listed on his early character card. 390
  • Terendis's Lost Demon Sword, Eraser of Truth — An unstable Demon Sword initially sealed in a black crystal coffin-like scabbard; it attacks the wielder's consciousness and required Han Dong to create a new scabbard from Origin Tentacles. 1628
  • White Fat Jade Tendril of Carcosa — A Yellow Robe gift that offsets half the essence needed to upgrade the Faceless Head and adds a Soul Laboratory to the Prison Experiment Zone. 1145

Relationships

  • Mr. Black and White — Han Dong's teacher and the Crow Prophet who selected him as a direct student; their relationship develops into one of mutual trust, with Han Dong later offering to help his teacher face his internal problems. 140 1473
  • The Scarlet Count — Han Dong's second consciousness, preserved in his Talent Tree; they share combat control, with the Count using Han Dong's body to reach possibilities unavailable in life. 869 1105 1160
  • Togo Gonzalez — Contained Purgatory Monk and trusted combat partner. Han Dong seeks communication and coexistence rather than a simple master-servant arrangement, and later gains access to Togo's traits through Deep Imitation. 148 1105 1198
  • Chen Li — Longstanding friend and ally whose ghostly traits and combat style become one of Han Dong's Deep Imitation forms. 14 1175 1272
  • Sally — A Primordial Black Goat with whom Han Dong develops a close, collaborative relationship; they later appear publicly together and hold hands during meetings in the Holy City. 1105 1473 1476
  • Maritis — Floral Toad ally initially persuaded by Han Dong through his dual Emissary status; she later supports his Antarctic journey and seeks a closer relationship with him. 877 1145
  • Abel — Fellow Knight and reliable associate. They cooperate on investigations, resource gathering, and later reunite during major expeditions. 311 341
  • Mia — Persistent admirer whose advances Han Dong initially rejects; she remains concerned about his safety and progress. 270 721
  • Headless — Fighting Club friend who gives Han Dong a weapon and assists him in finding opponents after his Opening-the-Gate transformation. 1173 1296
  • Mr. MBlack Tower senior executive, mentor, and prospective inheritor figure who guides Han Dong's Gate Opening and advocates for his future within the organization. 1284 1629 1801
  • Eugenis — Initially an Antarctic expedition partner who revealed information about Han Dong's head; later becomes a hostile pursuer intent on obtaining and studying Han Dong's body. 1144 1160 1175
