Six-Person Squad
The curly-haired young man's encouraging words had some effect.
The first to respond was the black-haired woman holding a cross.
"That's right! Commander Kuran had successfully survived even a five-star cursed event, and he'd brought most of his team out alive.
"Our determination will surely be seen by the Lord. The Lord will guide us out of this dangerous Black Forest."
Just Then, a voice echoed in everyone's mind.
'The event has not yet begun. Your identities are a university filming team. Within One Hour, make direct contact with the event's main figure, "Granny Wang," and travel with her to the abandoned manor where the event will take place. 'If you fail to contact "Granny Wang" within the allotted time, interfere with or refuse to board the vehicle heading to the event location, the individual will be forcibly erased.'
One Hour of preparation time.
The curly-haired young man tried to organize everyone to improve their chances of survival.
"Since we have plenty of time, let's introduce ourselves! My name is Edward Mori... My father is a somewhat famous writer, so my family is fairly well-off.
"When I was little, there was an accident, and my right hand became like this."
The young man took off his White Gloves and rolled up his sleeve.
A Metal Prosthetic with a fusion of mechanical aesthetics was revealed.
Its elbow, wrist, and Finger Joint sections were made of countless precision gears and tiny bolts... Not only could it bend and move normally at the Joints, it could even perform movements impossible for an ordinary person.
A small steam-powered hydraulic device was concealed within the streamlined metal arm, granting the prosthetic tremendous strength.
"Steam Prosthetic!!"
The rather pretty blonde, blue-eyed girl seemed to have found a lifeline. She displayed her beauty as much as possible and leaned toward the young man.
A Steam Prosthetic was not something civilians could get their hands on. Even a middle-class family in the Holy City would have to spend a considerable portion of their assets to buy one like this.
The blonde girl's attention was entirely fixed on Mori, the curly-haired young man. She promptly introduced herself as well. "My name is Hall Monica... My mother works at a 'restaurant.'"
Mori smiled faintly. He neither accepted the woman's advances nor rejected them, maintaining a distance of roughly two fists between them.
With someone having taken the lead, the introductions proceeded smoothly.
The bald white man, the strongest and oldest member of the group, spoke with a disdainful expression.
"De Leon, an Ordinary Person worker at a parts factory. What I'm good at is... beating people up.
"Damn it! If this were a mutation-type or monster-type event, I could fight it head-on! But these untouchable evil spirits are disgusting... How could my luck be this bad?"
Thinking of the event's nature, De Leon punched the wall by the roadside... Of course, limited by an Ordinary Person's physique, he merely made a noise. The wall did not budge.
The black-haired girl clutching the cross slowly stood up.
"My name is Green Akaman. I volunteer at a church... The Great One promised me that when I come of age in the second half of this year, I'll be able to stay at the church and work there officially.
"The Great One is very kind to me... During my volunteer work, as long as I work overtime at the church for a while at night, I can earn ten pence."
There was an obvious problem with those words.
Churches did not open at night. This supposed nighttime overtime was rather suspicious.
Next, a young man who pretended to be calm despite being terrified inside stepped forward.
He looked to be around twenty. Over his linen shirt, he wore a coarse cloth vest and a frayed newsboy cap.
"Peters Herbert... Just call me Bert.
"I sell newspapers with my father. I'm not particularly good at anything, except I run fairly fast and can tell who might be willing to buy a paper.
"I'll do my best. I hope we can all survive."
This newsboy was perhaps the most optimistic person in the group.
Finally, it naturally became Han Dong's turn... Among the group, Han Dong's physical condition was probably tied for last with that frail female believer.
Beneath his linen shirt, his stick-thin frame looked as though a gust of wind could knock him over.
"Valen Nicholas... I was born with poor health and stayed at home with nothing to do. However, when I'm bored, I've studied linguistics a little. I should be able to serve as a translator."
Han Dong deliberately gave himself a "specialty."
If he appeared too useless, his teammates would surely despise him.
With much of the information still unclear and his body being weak, Han Dong had to make himself seem somewhat "useful" to coexist with his teammates as an equal. At the very least, he could not be the worst member.
"You know the Han language of Nine Provinces?" Edward Mori, the young man with the Steam Prosthetic, looked surprised.
"Mm... Basic communication won't be a problem."
"Excellent! You'll serve as the translator later. Make contact with the important figure, 'Granny Wang,' and ensure that all of us reach the event location safely."
"Mm." Han Dong accepted the task, establishing his value within the team.
Edward turned to everyone and said,
"You don't mind if I serve as captain, do you?
"I hope that during the upcoming event, everyone can follow my instructions and requests. I'll do everything I can to increase our survival rate.
"If anyone has any opinions, you can raise them with me or the whole team. As long as they're reasonable, they'll definitely be adopted."
"I agree!" The blonde woman, Hall Monica, was the first to voice her approval.
Han Dong raised his hand as well.
For this kind of group operation, having a leader was essential.
Judging from the current situation, Edward was qualified for the role.
As everyone raised their hands one after another, the bald De Leon wore a contemptuous look. "I'll go with you to the event location, but I'll do whatever I want. I won't listen to anyone."
Edward replied with a smile, "I understand, friend De Leon. As long as you don't do anything harmful to the team, you can do whatever you like."
Then Edward turned to Han Dong. "Friend Nicholas, shall we set off?"
"Sure."
And so, after the six of them finished introducing themselves and basically united, they officially embarked on their journey into terror.
To make them easier to remember,
Han Dong assigned each of the five teammates a label.
Prosthetic, believer, blonde girl, bald guy, newsboy.
In addition, information from the "Faceless One's Head" dispelled Han Dong's plan to exploit a loophole.
'It has been detected that the host is currently within a special spatial region. Opening the prison will consume a large amount of spatial energy... The Portable Prison will only open briefly when containing external objects. The host cannot enter the Portable Prison independently.'
"Sure enough, it wasn't that simple..."
