More than two hundred years ago, the outbreak of war had awakened the slumbering Ancient Ones.

Eternal Night descended... humanity was driven down from the top of the food chain, and the apocalypse arrived.

When Eternal Night shrouded the rather unique ancient mountain city of Perugia City, a peculiar transformation took place.

This ancient city, rich with human history and preserving Etruscan culture from before the Common Era, caught the attention of an Ancient One, who held a mad feast here.

This Ancient One gave every lifeform in the city an opportunity, transmitting information into the mind of every living being through a method beyond words.

They were to do what they considered to be the "craziest" thing within forty-eight hours.

Those who met the standard would have a chance to survive.

When the time limit ended, none of the humans in the city had met the standard for madness. They all fell into the abyss and became the lowest-ranking mad servants.

However.

A rat hiding in the darkest depths actually became the only one to "meet the standard."

This mad rat seemed to have undergone a genetic mutation and was roughly three times the size of its kind.

Within the allotted time, it had devoured every one of its kind in the streets and alleys, garbage heaps, Underground Sewer, and human buildings, leaving not a single one behind.

Moreover, it was extremely picky about food and ate only brains... perhaps that was one reason this rat was exceptionally intelligent.

Its "act of madness" had successfully met the standard.

Not only had it gained a chance to live, it had even received a "blessing," a direct blessing from a High-ranking Old King...
