Twenty hours earlier.
A terrified doctor pushed a spotless corpse cart swiftly through the streets, trying to seek shelter from the surrounding residents.
However, with the fog descending and monsters running rampant, the residents had all locked their doors tight. No one was willing to take in the doctor.
Just as the doctor, exhausted from running for so long, stopped to rest for a moment—
Whoosh~
A violent gust suddenly swept past.
Not far down the roadside, the doors of a restaurant called Blachy's Stewhouse opened, thick fog continuously pouring out from within.
The doctor's expression turned rather grim, as though he did not want to go inside.
But he had no other choice. The streets were filled with bizarre lifeforms, and this restaurant with its suddenly opened doors was his only refuge.
The instant the doctor stepped inside the restaurant, a rich aroma of meat wafted out from within.
More than a dozen 'humanoid lifeforms' hung from mechanical butcher's hooks on the ceiling of the stewhouse... black bodily fluid seeped from their wounds.
They all wore Apprentice Priest uniforms issued by the Pyramid.
Most of them still showed signs of life, merely restrained and hung there... seemingly awaiting "complete exsanguination" before being sent to the kitchen for processing.
Seeing the doctor's accidental arrival, the Apprentice Priests immediately cast pleading looks at him, hoping he would save them.
However, their vocal systems had been removed, leaving them only able to whimper and moan weakly.
The sight frightened the doctor into backing away again and again.
Yet the restaurant doors behind him had already been locked tight.
Ta~ Ta~ Ta~
The incessant sound of chopping came from the kitchen, making the doctor tremble all over. He did not dare help the priests at all.
After all, they were hanging high up.
