Xiang Yu identifies himself as the Hegemon of Western Chu, explaining that “Xiang Yu” was the name he once used in the Mortal Realm. When Li Yang doubts that a historical figure could still exist, Xiang Yu confirms his identity but refuses to disclose the events of his past. 23 24

For more than two thousand years, Xiang Yu remained in the Mortal Realm after suffering setbacks that reshaped his state of mind. During this period, he existed primarily through his Primordial Spirit and energy, eventually becoming the voice within Li Yang's mind. 157 261 273

He covertly assisted Li Yang by helping him obtain the Marrow Cleansing Pill and accelerating his absorption of spiritual energy. Xiang Yu also tells Li Yang that Jiang Xue's physical death does not mean her soul has been destroyed, giving Li Yang a reason to continue cultivating. 24

While trapped with Li Yang inside the Xiantian Tai Chi Yin-Yang Grand Array beneath the African desert, Xiang Yu discovers the Ghost Valley Immortal Mansion and becomes deeply impressed by Guigu Zi's formation knowledge.
