Arc 9The Ace’s Return

Kōshū faced a shoulder problem that kept him off the mound while Seido relied on its other pitchers through the Autumn Tournament. After recovering his feel and helping Seido advance, he wrestled with what it meant to be ace as Inajitsu became their next opponent.

  • Kōshū reduced his pitching because his arm remained heavy after Summer Koshien, and a doctor later diagnosed inflammation and ordered him not to pitch for at least half a month.
  • Kataoka named Furuya and Kawakami to handle Seido’s first three games and told the team to take responsibility rather than rely on its Koshien legacy.
  • Seido beat Tachikawa Private 3-2 after Furuya struggled and Eijun came in to pitch, while Kōshū watched from the dugout.
  • Seido defeated Teito without Kōshū pitching, and his hospital follow-up later cleared him to return to the mound.
  • Kōshū regained his pitching feel by focusing on his lower-body rotation, then pitched the final innings as Seido beat Kawasaki Academy.
  • After Inashiro won, Kōshū admitted to Miyuki that he did not know what being ace meant but could not accept giving up the position, and Miyuki urged him to stay in it longer.
